Default Prone to breaking

Are Corvettes more prone to breaking than any other vehicle? Is that why there are always questions about things going wrong? I have had 2 GMC Envoys and there is no bulletin board about their problems. (Acutally I have had none). I am on my 3rd Vette and sometimes these forums make me nervous!

Maybe its because we pay more attention to our cars than they pay to theirs. We care.

Vetts dont break more or less than other vehicles. Owners of Corvetts are more likely to repair or try to repair their car when a problem arises than say a Prius owner. Corvette owners have an attatchment to their car and want to spend time with it wether driving or wrenching.Corvetts are also more likely to be moddified and once moddified different problems come up.

Forum members, regardless of brand or model, are typically your more extreme or passionate type of owner. The forum is used to vent frustrations, get ideas and gain knowledge from others.

You will notice that a large number of the members here have modified their cars. In reality only a small percentage of Vette owners ever do any mods on their car.

Some people on here get a little personal or a little extreme. Trying to keep up with some of the members mods would be a lesson in bad financial planning. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Also the C5 is the only car that I have owned that gives me a gazillion ways to mod it and fix it on my own since the car practically tells me what is wrong and where, it's almost right most of the time

You have a very large group of C5 owners on here and we tend to post our problems rather than our satisfaction.

I've had my C5 for over 7 years now and so far I've replaced a rear connecting rod (driving the road of NJ) and repaired the active handling. Not a bad record.

I would say yes for my 04. , rear hatch blistering, differential leak, fuel tank leak, door panel delaminating. 21k and lives indoors. If your a car nut it wont bother you.

If you read the majority of 'issues' reported they will most likely fall into the following:

Column lock

Rocking seat

Gas gage goes to empty

Instrument light 'fading' to dark

Headlight(s) won't go up/down.

The issue in these posts is they have been discussed, re- discussed, written and posted again and again, then reposted, then discussed again......... you get the picture.

Members seem incapable of using the Search function (it is located at the top of each section page, just above the posts!).

With the ability of so many younger people now able to afford a C5, the historic information on the vast majority of 'issues' is provided - IF they would just search for the topic.

Oh well - even this post subject has been discussed, re- discussed, posted and re- posted, posted again..................................e tc. etc. etc.

Overall the quality of the C5 is good - sure there are issues, but a lot less than other vehicles - just read the Mustang Forum

Just about every Corvette owner I know has no problem dumping the clutch at 3800 rpm with drag radials or drifting through corners and braking hard enough to go pads and rotors in a day or two at the track.
Gaining knowledge on how to make the Corvette quicker, handle better and how to perform repairs is the reason many people use this forum.

Oh I agree totally!!!! I like my '99 so much, I also bought an '07. My '99 is the one here with 296,300 plus or minus a couple of miles at this moment and another 120 miles today when I drive it to work today. They are strong and well built. Nothing lasts forever therefore maintenance is needed on all cars.

From my experience, no worse than any other vehicle. Problem is the same problem seems to happen more than once.

Sometimes the same problem keeps happening. Other than that, it's no worse than other cars, in my experience.
