Default Best Rotors?

Guys,

What's the best replacement rotors?

Drilled/Slotted? Zinc plated?

Can you have the drilled/slotted rotors cut if they warp?

Also, heard some rumors that they're prone to cracking?

Also, metallic or ceramic pads?

Thanks!
al

NAPA Stock Rotors $35 each.... Can't beat um. Save the bling for painted/powder coat calipers.

This is mainly dependant on what your car's purpose is.

If you see alot of track/strip time, traditional full surface rotors (non slot/drilled) are essential and somtimes mandatory.

If your car is primarily a street car, Drilled and slotted are often better. (especially if you happen to see rain)

Zinc Washed rotors don't rust easily.

I have these on mine and have had no issues. Put them on about a year ago. I recommend you clear coat the center hats with hi-temp clear. The zinc is a good protector but some complain they still rust after some time and wear. I am making a comment about zinc coated rotors in general, not just the sportbrakes. I got them more for looks than stopping power but I will say the car stops as good if not better than it did with stock rotors.

If you track your car, I would not get cross drilled rotors as they are more prone to crack. You are better off with a slotted rotor only or something designed specifically for track use.

Good inexpensive rotors:
Sportbrakes
Rotorpros
Napa
Baer Decelarotors

Good hi dollar rotors:
Baer
Stoptech
Alcon
Wilwood
Red Devil

Good luck with it.

The NAPA rotors are now "made in China". Why trust your life to their horrible quality control?

What's wrong with stock GM rotors?

I just asked about this earlier in the week and someone commented that everything from NAPA was made in the good ol' USA...

Have them show you the boxes. The NAPA/Raybestos rotors used to have "made in Canada" on the boxes. The ones I got recently were Chinese. I bought a set and took them back after I read the label myself. The guy at the parts store said "everything is made in China now".

Yea GM rotors cost me about $100 extra. My Z06 pads cost a few bills extra also. My car is made in Bowling Green, not Japan.

My company started buying parts made in China. What junk, we replace parts 10 times more often now (lots of money saved doing this)

My expectations have been exceeded with the Brembo rotors that I run.

I just bought a pair of Baer Decelarotors. I dont have them installed yet, but it clearly says "Made in China" on the box.....not real happy about that.
