Default headlight motor linkage

I just replaced the gear in my passenger headlight, thought all was good to go, but this morning the light did not go up, and I could not raise it manually either. I did manage to just lift it up and somewhat lock the linkage in, though it fell back down after a few bumps in the road.

Question is, on the link assembly where it connects to the motor shaft, is there a specific way it should go on? It was dark when I finished everything up, and I am thinking the link arm may have something like a "square" hole that should line up with the motor shaft, but I couldn't really see.

BTW, the instructions posted are pretty good, but as usual, I ended up doubling the recommended time, plus fished out my small 10mm wrench three times when it fell, lol. It went back together much quicker, but it's still a PIA...better than the stealer though!!

it should hinge to the front of the car, not the rear.

kinda like F < R not F > R.

YES, there is 2 flat sides on the motor shaft that have to line up with the link. Just take the nut off the shaft loosen the link turn the motor gear manualy with the **** untill the flat areas line up ,slide the link back on and put the nut back on......
