I just put Sumitomos on my vette and drove it 2900 miles to get it home. I have nothing to compare these tires to (on a vette) though as I had the sumotomos put on before I picked up the vette. The ride was comfortable. The tire/road noise was fine. They handled well in the limited amount of rain I drove in as well. the dry traction seems very good-I haven't tried to do a burn out but the few times I've hammered on it, they have held really well.
I really wanted to get the Generals but they were out of stock at the time I needed new tires. These tires were very inexpensive but NOT cheap. Even if I only get 20-30,000 miles out of them I will be happy due to the price.
HTH

Reason: tier rack
Goodyear GSD3s (last longer than most of the top-tier brands)
BF Goodrich KDW IIs (a bit loud but great handling tires)
Michelin PS2s (traditionally expensive, but very good tires)
These are all non-runflats because there really isn't a runflat made that matches any of the above-listed tires.
I purchased a set of Michilen Pilot Sport A/S ZP (run flats) from Discount Tire Direct for $1088, incl shipping, this past May. Had a local shop mount and balance them for $20/tire. Since then, two friends with C5's found a shop in Boliver, MO (35 miles north of Springfield) where they purchased the same tires, mounted and balanced, including sales tax for ~$1100. Might be worth the trouble for you to drive over to Missouri to purchase a set of tires.
I put non run flat Goodyear on my wifes C5. The local tire store could have sold me anything, but suggested unless I really needed the run flat tires, not to buy them. He said almost all the Run flat tires he sees, must be replaced after being run flat, he thinks it is the heat build up when run too many (unknown) miles. My set way, I think a good deal, tires/tax/mounting etc out the door $1100.
