Canceling the GMPP warranty?
I understand that the GMPP extended warranty can be cancelled and a prorated amount will be returned. Anyone done this before?

I believe the way it works is like this. If you purchase the warranty after you purchased your car you can get a refund. If you purchased the warranty with the car and it was included in your payments and your still making payments, the warranty will be subtracted from your balance. It wont get refunded back to you. If you trade in your car and you have a warranty or if the car is paid off you can return it and you get the check. If you paid (for example) 2k for the warranty and you did a claim on a bill that was 1200 you will only get 800 back. This is of course if your warranty is 100% refundable not one of those prorated ones. I dont think GMPP is prorated. I may be wrong.

Just call up GMPP and tell them you want to cancel the warranty. Most likely they will send you some paperwork to fill out (including an odometer certification) and then they will process your refund.

I did but only because GMPP won't cover me in England. Had I still been in the US I would still be covered.
Contact GMPP and they'll tell you how to request a refund. If you have the policy document its covered in there.
The prorated refund wasn't as much as I'd hoped and I lost money on the deal. depends on how much you paid originally. When I bought the car I wasn't a Forum member and the stealership charged me way over the odds because I didn't know any better
Bottom line, I'd keep the warranty if I could. there are many things to go wrong and GMPP deliver on their promises.

Very simple to do, call the 800 number listed on your policy, have your VIN and exact miles handy and walk thru the prompts and you will get a live person and they will cancel for you, tell you how much you have coming back and in about 7-10 days max you will have a check in your hands.
