Howdy kind people of the Corvette Forum. I haven't been a member long and this is my first post. There seems to be an abundance of helpful and friendly corvette owners here, so here I go.
I own an '01 Z06 and I was hoping to get some skinny on any shops in the Kansas City area for quality work where mods are concerned.... Also any info on the nearest autocross so I can maybe drop the hammer
Anyone from around here with some 411 would be greatly appreciated.

I lived in Kansas City, Overland Park, to be exact. I sent my car to Texas. There are no really good shops there.
Also, Heartland Park in Topeka offers monthly HPDE's. If you haven't received any training on driving your car fast (and safely), they have instructors who will ride with you. You won't be able to hit top speed on that track.
Forget Kansas Speedway. Forget Autocross. October 20th and 21st at Heartland Park Topeka. KC area Porsche Club will host a DE on the ROAD COURSE! There's always a couple of us there. It's a blast and it's what the Corvette was meant to do. All the forms and information can be seen at www.kcrpca.org.
As for shops, I don't know what you want to do to the car (interior, exterior, horsepower). I've heard good things about MC but mostly from the Mustang crowd (not a slam on them). I personally went to 21st Century Musclecars in Carrollton, Texas (Dallas suburb) for horsepower.
Another vouch for MC Racing. I did my own head/cam install and had them do the tune, and everything went well. Chris is extremely knowledgeable, and will talk to you as long as you need to figure out whatever it is you want to do. They have done tons of LS1 FI, nitrous, and H/C packages, and have tons of knowledge. I just had them do an install on a new clutch, and everything has gone well.
Thank you guys so much for the information. It's a kewl thing this forum site for sure. I got THE shop in the area address and phone number. A new web site with info for the place to be Oct. 20th and 21st.
Kilrb big ups for being able to do your own head/cam job. Im just a fireman who loves cars(my Z06 in particular). I have alot of respect for someone that can get under a shade tree like that. Especially with a machine like this.
