in my line of work i get to drive alot of different vehicles, well last weekend we traded for a 2000 c5 which i drove over the weekend. Now i know that everyone has a personal preference....but here are my .02
I did not get that same feeling of driving a "muscle" car that i get when i drive my c-4, yes there is more power but it was different. Like driving the go fast benz;s or bmw's etc they are fast but you wouldnt consider them a muscle car would ya? The c-4 feels more like a cockpit of a jet or something vs the c5 that felt like i was driving something other than a vette..i guess to sum it up i dont think that there is the same "spirit" of a vette in the newer c5's(havent driven a c6 yet, but hopefully soon i will)
Dont know if anyone else feels the same

After owning a few Trans Ams, I concluded that the power of the C5 has a lot of finesse...which I actually like. A lot smoother than I thought it would be too.

not me,,, cant get in and out of the c4. also drive a c5z and then tell me what you think... had a c6 vert,,, like the c5z better
Not everyone has to like the same thing best. As long as you like what you drive then the world is spinning in the right direction. I have owned a 409 and a Dodge 440 R/T. I liked them as much then as I do my C5 today. Someday I hope to like something else as much as I did these three.
This is not meant as a childish response, so please don't take it that way.
A C4 is the last gen vette I would want to own.
So yes, definitely different strokes.
p.s. I have yet to drive a C6
I had a '66 Mustang and a '68 Vette and yea, they were definetly muscle cars; all power and no rear end traction and loud and fuel ghouls and they handled like crap around corners and they were hot in the summer and drafty in the winters. And did I mention they were usually in the garage being fixed?.. I loved 'em. But the C5 is more on par with a modern, high end, sophisticated sports car (think Ferrari). After owning a Porsche and an M3 I got used to super handleing, good gas mileage, dependable, fun transportation/driving. I always thought the C5's were great looking and after checking out the car mag reviews and hanging around here a while I took the plunge and bought my '01 Vert. Couldn't be happier and although I like the roar and brute force of a muscle car as much as the next guy, for my money you can't beat the C5.
But hey, that's just my opinion...
I also like short, bald headed, ugly women with braces and tourettes... just kidding honey.
I owned a C4 93 Vert, and I loved it. It was rougher riding than my C5 Z06, it was harder to get into. But it was a vert, and six speed plus torch red and fun
I can give you a different perspective. I've owed 4 C3s (77-82), and the difference between them and my C5 is night and day. Comfort, handling, power, looks (subjective), you name it,......light years ahead.

If the C4 feels perfect for you, then you can't ask for much more. I had four C4s and now two C5s and for me, there is no way I'd go back to a C4 even though I liked each one of them. Yes the C4 did feel very different than the C5 (lots less room for the driver/passenger and harder to get in and out of) but the interior layout did make it feel like a fighter plane.
I've had a C4(95)..It was a good car but it doesn't compare to my 99 in terms of ride, comfort and style..Hardly ever drove the C4 with the roof out...Glad you love your C4 but I've moved on...

I do understand what you are saying, but have you done any minor mod's? I had a 68 RS/SS Camaro and a 72 Mustang(can't remember orientation) but with a few tweaks the C5 is a great musclecar with all the comfort and handling of a newer vehicle. You can get the rumble, turn off the air, touring mode, traction control,Bose CD, pass. side airbag, and HUD and other creature comforts to get a more "old school feel" then switch them all back on for a long trip Best of both worlds IMHO
I still had my 92 C4 after I bought my 02 C5. Had it for 6 weeks until someone bought it. Drove it 3 times once just for fun, once to show it to the new owner and one more time to deliver it. It might of had something to do with the C5 being supercharged, almost new and it didn't rattle and shake with the top off. Old cars are nice to look at but I wouldn't trade or go back for anything on a day to day basis.
