how 2 detail engine???
okay... new z owner here. previous owner never detailed engine. needless to say its in horrible condition 
.
how do I Detail it?

There are plenty of threads on here on how to get it done..... do the search for it all....
but simply spray down with simple green let is set.....spray off with low pressure hose, and dry and shine to your likes

I asked the same question, and I was told..
1. Never use water in the engine bay area..too many sensors!
2. Spray down engine and others with Simple Green
3. Wipe off
4 Carefull to use "spray & shine" products as they tend to collect dust
Took me a couple of hours (and beers
) but well worth the time and effort

Be careful with Simple Green on aluminum, it can stain. Go to most motorcycle dealers to find a product called S100 detail spray. It is for detailing bikes. Follow the instructions and you shouldn't have any problems. Basically you spray it on and rinse it off. It leaves a sparkling clean engine. Just cover electrical connections. I've used it on my engine and it looked brand new. Also if you have any spots of grease build-up you can clean them by spraying brake cleaner.
