hi all. i'm looking for some much needed advice. i'm interested in purchasing an 01 zo6 with ~58k miles for $24,000. is that a fair price? is the engine difference between the 01 and 02 an incredible amount (besides the horsepower jump)? how's the reliability of the 01 engines in this mileage range? should i pay a bit more and opt for the 02+? any and all input would be much appreciated! thanks everyone!
if i could do it all over again, i'd get a higher mile 01 instead of my low-mile 03. it really depends on what you do with the car. it's a shame what i'm putting my car through: it sits under the sun for hours at my school parking lot, where it is susceptible to dings or the results of someone's jealousy. it's got a layer of dirt and dust on it from not having time to wash it (thanks to school). i take it to the track and i dont exactly baby it. but i don't abuse my car - i do everything necessary to keep the paint clean and in great working order (ie when i have time to clean the car, i REALLY clean it and do whats needed to protect the paint. it gets fresh fluids very often, etc etc). but the way the previous owner kept the car, this car should have gone to someone that would wax it every weekend and put 1k miles per year on it.
what do you mean by "clunk"? is this a common issue with the 01's?
No. I think it is just a brake issue, it's really more of a click. I seem to be able to get it to make the noise right after letting off the brake. When I get a chance to get the car in the air, i'll find the noise!

Probably just the axle spline noise. It sounds like clicking when you take off from a stop for just a few seconds and goes away. It's from rust on the splines. You take off the axle nuts slide the shaft in and spray with PB Blaster-WD-40 or the like. Move the shaft in and out and it should free up. Put the nut back on and torque to 118 Ft Lbs. This part is important! Don
