Well I guess I am not the only one who feels like I do. I like to think the majority of the members here still have common courtesy and are appreciative of the help they get here from other members. It does seem that the newer members are the ones more often not acknowledging other's help and advice.

As pointed out, we have lost some very valuable members due to this rude behavior, I hope it doesn't continue to cost us anymore. I have been on this forum a little over five years and I have come to know some truly great people here. The collective wealth of information here is simply amazing and has no doubt saved many members thousands of dollars in repairs, how about we show our appreciation even if it is with a simple "Thank you"...

Many people think of the internet as their drive-though information center...ask for, receive and leave w/o a thank you or tip.
The courtesy of a thank you for taking the time to help me is the furthest from their mind. They might not ever come back, anyway.
I got slammed not long ago for providing a specific source for information asked w/o actually providing the link. My thinking was and still is I've done the poster a favor by allowing him/her to find the information with their own research of the topic.
With many of the questions that get asked, I'd like to know what suggestion(s) they actually followed, or what suggestion(s) actually worked and resolved their problem(s).

I hope I haven't forgotten anyone, this forum has been a great source of info and I always try to acknowledge that. Speaking of which, a couple of months ago forum member rickko posted some great pictures of the access to the third brake light. I know I thanked him at the time but today I finally got around to my little project of straightening the light and making it fit flush. So if you're out there, thanks again for posting those pics!

I love this forum and the rude guys are the ones coming over from the import forums..........(I came from 3si.org, 3000gt and Stealth).

Anyone who post a thread with a problem needs to follow up so the damn search function will allow people to decipher and glean the truth from it.

Thanks to all the members who make this forum great.

I want to reply to all that have helped. I have gotten great benefit from this forum for information. Makes having the car much more fun. I am doing a complete makeover of my sound system taking out Bose and putting in AVIC Z2 and amp, etc.. Hope to post all the pics when done. I probably have not acknowledged all that have helped but don't think you haven't or that it is not appreciated!

One issue may be that many of us have been with the internet since early on and in the early days it was not ok to respond "Thanks, that helped." because it took up bandwidth. I recall many people getting flamed for responses like that. A quick reply to say thanks was severely discouraged then.

Maybe it would be a good idea to include a request somewhere on the page to "Please reply if the information helped and if you have anything to add." So people would be welcomed to do it. Maybe if people were encouraged to reply there would be more traffic and a more lively forum? Bandwidth is no longer an issue so we can all reply with no concern for wasting space. Another idea for the Forum is to have some system to add rank to those that do post good information so there is incentive to do it more. I think it is possible people do not know it is a good thing to post a simple "Thank You." Really. It may not be known that on this site (Or most every other site for other things I've seen) that it is a good idea to post a reply like that... So the site should encourage it. It would bring topics to the top like a Bump and may be useful if there are some things that get looked at often with search. It is not a specific issue to this forum.

In any case do not feel people are not grateful for the help. I probably wouldn't have done the things i have done to the car without this forum or even knew there were the possibilities to do.

I'm kind of new here but I've already noticed this many times. I don't think I've been guilty of it but, if I have, please accept my apologies. I really am grateful for all the help I've received on this forum although most of it has been through the search function. Whenever I see one of those threads I kind of think "Geez Dude, not only did you not thank the people for their effort, now I don't know which tip worked in case I have that problem". I guess I'm just getting old.

I have gotten so much, like many others, off this forum I hope that guys like you decide not to leave. Though there are some that do not say thanks there are many that do and though some maynot say it, it is appreciated.

It takes posts like this to make people think.

If in fact, I find that I have not been responding.. (thought I have been doing pretty good at that, though)..I'll try (I know I know.. "No Try, Only Do or Do not, there is not try" - Yoda) to get better at responding.
If we find out that you were not responding, I am going to slide a couple of rubber inner tubes over your exhaust pipes. As I recall from my grade school days, about 14 inches of inner tube will make funny noises.

Please don't respond; please don't respond. I already have inner tube cut to size.

I guess I'm just getting old.[/QUOTE]

Not sure if I should agree or not.

I will admit that we will forgive those senior citizens who have alzheimers.

Now, what were we talking about?

I hear you Bill. Like Randy, Dave and others, I too have seen a shift over the last year or so. Mostly I think because the C5 is getting heavier into the used car market and they're becoming affordable for younger and younger guys who maybe have transitioned from imports or some other brand. I'm not just picking on young guys, but hey if the shoe fits. Many of the ex-C5 guys are now on the C6 boards too and they took their experience and knowledge with them.
This site is one of the most civilized out there and the level of rudeness tolerated on other boards is not welcomed here. Like Hotwheels, I just got snapped at by a newer member the other day for recommending search function to the OP. To make it worse, the "snapper" was not even participating in the thread.
This kind of reminder is a good thing and I thank you for bringing it up. We've got far too many good members here with a wealth of information that has proven time and again to be valuable to us all. I, for one, have learned a great deal thanks to a number of members and I also try to help out whenever I can as well.
OK, I'm done now.
Robert

It is good to hear all you guys chiming in on this issue. If anything I hope by posting this thread it will remind the new guys (and some old timers) that acknowledging someone's response is not just common courtesy but more importantly helps to further knowledge on the forum.

Ok, now back to your regularly scheduled program...

Aloha,
Bill

Yep! I've been considering posting the same rant. Just recently I responded to two Forum members who PM'd me for assistance. For one guy I even went to the trouble to fax him instructions on how to replace his window motor/regulator. No response, no thanks, no nothing!
