Default Pardon me while I vent...

Just have to vent about people who post about a problem with their car, then after numerous suggestions by other members on how to possibly remedy the problem they do not even respond. First of all the reason this forum is so great is that people can learn from other people's problems and fixes. By not responding the rest of us do not know if the suggestions worked or what was the real cause and fix for the problem. Secondly it is just rude not to acknowledge people who take the time to respond to try help you...

I agree. Sometimes, the original poster responds a few days later to acknowledge the wrong person for suggesting the fix! It IS nice to find out exactly what suggestion actually worked, for the benefit of all who read posts in this forum.

yep; I've been noticing that too lately. Oh; I'm certain the OP's of these pleas for help posts have "reasons" why they don't respond... but that's just the point - there are no valid reasons (just excuses).

I agree you have to show appreciation by at least replying!

If they don't care why should we?

I'm with ya brother.

I love to help people but it gets discouraging when people can't even say thanks or tell everyone whether it worked or didn't work...

I have another good friend who will remain anonymous who PM'd me just this morning to say hello and mentioned he has shyed away from the CF lately because of a very similar thing having to do with the "new breed" of C/F members.....

This sounds like a real problem!!! I am really new, but I have tried to spend my time searching for answers using past threads (search is an awesome tool when used correctly)

I try to respond to everything I have knowledge about and even when I don't have the answer I will at least make a comment to keep it going till someone shows up to save the day or maybe ever look it up!!!

Like I said I am new but I am in debt to the members of this forum for helping me find the right Vette for me, and the parts to make it my own!!!!!

Well, I'm new to CF, new to the Vette experience.... must be me.

Guess I will look at all of my past posted issues and see if I have, in fact been doing this.

Hopefully I am not a reason for someone not looking in CF for all of the valuable information this place does provide.

If in fact, I find that I have not been responding.. (thought I have been doing pretty good at that, though)..I'll try (I know I know.. "No Try, Only Do or Do not, there is not try" - Yoda) to get better at responding.

It's all part of the lack of civility so common in society today.

I agree 100%!

Some people are just downright rude!

Now me, I'm just sarcastic, obnoxious, and egotistical!

However, I do always try to give thanks to anyone who offers a suggestion to a problem or question I may have. If I have ever forgotten, please forgive me.

The free help and suggestions that are offered up here on the Forum are just awesome! The least we can do is thank those that give it.

I've wanted to ask the same question myself; lack of common courtesy. It’s always nice to find out what fixed the problems.

I'm with you Bill. How often does your suggestion get acknowledged about 10 posts down the thread to someone else?

Oh well..............

I'm still sad and I'll still be here trying to help out a fellow Corvette Bud

I feel your pain, I had 5-7 people last week PM me asking if I would email them instructions on how to replace their rotors and calibers, of course I did. However, only one of those people sent me a thank you for helping them out.

I agree!! Give thanks. A lot of forum members go way out of their way
to help fellow Vette owners. Try getting this type of service at the local dealer.

/rant on

Don't mean to hijack your response but your experiences reminded me of the number of times I've read a gut-wrenching/heart-breaking story of human suffering or tragedy, taken the time to locate the people and then sent them a check to help them through their hard times.

Not ONCE have I EVER gotten a thank-you!!

And people wonder why I have such a low opinion of much of humanity.

/rant off!!

I can tell you that I speak on the telephone with a number of people that I have met here on the Forum that echo these sentiments. I won't mention any names either - but unfortunately, the population here is a direct reflection of our society. Good manners (simply saying please and thank you) have become a lost art.

As it is - there are people leaving daily because of moving up to a C6, or moving on away from the Corvette. Factor in the feelings expressed here - the lack of courtesy and respect - and the magic that was once this place will be gone.

I have seen in my four and a half years as a member some incredible acts of respect and love (and no - not the gay kind!). Some that come to mind are tragic losses experienced by our members that I don't need to list, the St. Jude's collection, and several others. But as members get sick of the behavior they will just walk away - and take with them years of experience and knowledge that could benefit new members here.

So if you are a new member here reading this, or even if you have been here for a while - you need to reflect on your behavior and presentation. Are you guilty of the ignorant and ungrateful behaviors mentioned in this thread? If so - don't explain it or apologize. Just watch the membership continue to errode to the point that there will no longer be any reason to stick around.

I'm stepping off the soap box - and I will go back into the shadows to watch how this all plays out.

c.
You've nailed the core problem, common courtesy. Everyone gains real hands on experience when a problem gets solved on a Vette and it just seems that a simple "thanks guys" acknowledgement would be in order.

Darn! I forgot ........it's the new what can you do for me society

As usual, Randy (blacksedan87) is on the same wavelength as I. I agree 100% with the statements above. I have considered leaving because of some of the rude and inconsiderate behavior lately. Some of the most knowledgable and helpful members have already left because when they offered advise or helpful information, they were questioned, ridiculed, and abused by people with less experience. Some of us "old guys" still have merit, we still have knowledge, and we have years of experience. We would appreciate a thank you once in a while.
