I talked to a C5 owner the other day and he told me that he bought a set of Firestone Firehawks Run flats for his C5 and he likes them very much. I would lke to know if any forum members have these tires and if you do, what do you think of them?
I put a set of Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Run Flats, which are only available in C6 sizes, on my C5 on a set of C6ZO6 wheels, again in C6 sizes. I really like the tires, they run true, they are smoother and quieter than the OE GY's. However, they are a different tire than the Firehawk runflats for the C5. I hope the technology improved, since I just read the thread warning of drift problems.
i have had both the runflat and non runflat versions of the firestone tires. i prefer the Wide Oval non runflats myself. i have experienced the right sided drift mentioned from the runflats also. it wasnt that bad, but was there. the Firestone runflats felt better to me than the stk GY though. i was very happy with the change to the non runflat WIDE OVALS from firestone in the Z06 sizes. and in the rain they are far superior to many others. and when you consider the cost of them at about 1/3 the GY or Mich. its a great value too. the Z06 size on the rear looks the best on the std size C5 wheels because of the difference in tread width from GY to Firestone also. so.... i guess i would say i would get the NON runflat Wide Ovals again , but would not spend the xtra money for their runflat version myself. get a patch kit and save lots o money and improve the performance, ride, sound, taction, ect.
I have the wide ovals on the Z06. (non-runflats) I love them, great grip and low road noise. I wonder if these tires are not purchased out of fear over the Firestone debacle a couple years ago. More than likely the QA on their tires is probably better than the others to avoid more problems. Can not comment on the drifting problem, I can let go of the wheel on the interstate and my Z06 tracks straight as an arrow.
I have a set of Firehawk SZ50 runflats.
I have put over 15k miles on them.
They grip better and are quieter than the stock GY runcraps.
No issues re drifting...
I bought a set of the Firestone run flats. I have driven them 4500 miles with no problems and no drifting issues. They have outstanding wet and dry traction and great cornering grip. So far no noticeable tread wear. They are much quieter than the goodyear run flats that came from the factory.
I bought my 2000 coupe in June, showing less than 50% wear on a set of SZ50's. I've put 2000 miles on it, a lot of driving on a demanding mountain road. I've gotten to the point of getting the "active handling" involved to correct too much speed on a curve more than once, but never felt out of control. The wear does not seem unusual for my driving and mileage. Hope this helps.
I remember both MASSIVE recalls that Firestone had. I will not put Firestones on any of my cars. I have used Goodyear Tires recently and have not been disappointed.

Mine had Firestone Run Flats on it when I purchased it. So far it runs pretty good. Ran straight down to BG in May and Carlisle in August. Most likely when I go with new wheels I'll go with something else.

I too have used the Firestone runflats and had zero problems with them. Much better ride quality than GY and much quieter as well. The main reason for my changing them out after they eventually wore out is that I wanted a much wider tire and also wanted to switch to non-runflats.

I've got probably 10K miles on the Firestone run flats and have been very happy. I have had no issues at all and wouldn't have any problems recommending them or buying another set myself.
