Lot's of opinions of CAI's and such. How do you guys/gals feel about this one? I've heard many good things about the Blackwing, but you're still just sucking up warm air with it. What if I cut a hole in the plastic shroud behind it allowing some of the colder air from the airdamn to be utilized??? I know this will take some air away from the radiator.....
save yout money for a system built to utilize a cut shrowd or that takes air from outside the engine bay - i.e. honker, any of the "ice box" intakes, or (hate to say it) vararam also takes fresh air from the nose and will be better than any under hood intake...
Use search in either C5 Tech or C5 General and you'll find tons of past discussions about the BLACKWING, including some of mine.

I like the Blackwing on my car - been on there for over 5 years. They do make a cover for the filter which allows you to cut the shroud and suck up cold air.
I have a Blackwing. Its a great air filter. I opened up the fog light shrouds to let cold air enter. Those openings go striaght into the space where the Blackwing sits.
You can remove the shrouds, or cut openings in them or buy some after market units that have openings molded in. Its pretty easy to do.

Opinions??? and thanks.
If you'd rather not have unsightly holes or Z06 screens in the fog light panels, consider my CAI mod for Blackwings and Halltech Stinger intakes:

I really didn't gain anything in 1/4 mile in completely unscientific comparisons using Blackwing over z06 airbox and stock paper filter.

I simply removed my fog lights and surrounds. I have some Z06 screens in themail.
I have the BPP Vortex and really like it. Had several conversations last week though.........when we're in say 96 degree summer air does it really matter? I dunno, then again funny how we all including myself refer to it as "cold" air.

compared to the 200+ degree air under the hood it is cold, I can go driving on a hot day and when I get home feel the intake and it'll be quite cold to the touch...
