I was attempting to go for a drive last weekend...the car had been sitting for about 10 days/two weeks...put it in first and applied throttle to ease me out of the driveway, but it wouldn't move. It felt like I had the wheels blocked. I put it back in neutral and then first again, I gave it more gas and it set for a moment and then there was a metallic "clunk" and it pulled off and drove fine. What was it and what do I need to have checked?

I hear something like that occasionally and have attributed it to the brake pads busting loose from the rotors after sitting for a while. I've never had to really "give it more gas" to get it going but there's definitely a release of something. If you look at your rotors can you see an outline of an area that looks like your pads? It happens on my C4 too.
No, I failed to check that. I'm sure any marks are gone by now but I will look now and if it happens again....The "clunk" was so strong I could feel it thru the seat.
Sounds like the parking brake may have stuck. Maybe it's never happened before; maybe it'll never happen again. If it happens again, it'd be a perfect time to check to see if the park brake is engaged (even though the hand lever is down).
Hmm...Do you set the park brake everytime that you exit the vehicle? If so, this is has a very high probability.
Did you wash it before you put it away last? Sounds like brake pads stuck to corroded discs to me. It is not uncommon for this to happen to any car in the right circumstances, I know I have had it happen on several cars in the past. Probably nothing to worry about.
Same happens to me if I wash car and put in garage. It think it is the rust on the rotors. Comes off right away.
Did the car have the replacement power booster installed under the TSB?Look for a yellow dot on power booster.

With the crappy quality of the iron in cast rotors nowadays, I agree it was just the pads sticking to the rotors. I see this happen quite frequently at new car dealerships when cars in stock sit for a while before they get moved. I've seen situations at dealers where it was so bad, cars with no miles on them had brake pulsation. They've had to replace rotors on brand new unsold cars. Whenever I wash any of my cars, I go back and forth in the driveway a couple of times slightly stepping on the brake pedal to get the pads to drag and clean off the rotors.

The brake pads stick to the rotors and can cause this sound and can make the car feel like it is anchored when you first start. I usually get this after I wash the car and then drive into the garage and let it sit for a couple of days.

+1 for me too, I also try to drive the car shortly after I wash it (even if its just around the block) to prevent this.

This is exactly what your experiencing. Especially if your car sits outside. Pads just get hung up from the little bit of rust that forms and they are just breaking loose. Don't think the rotors will rust that fast???? Take a look at them after you wash the wheels. THe rotors will already have an orange stain on them.
