I think the main issue is not with the actual metal casing or pipes. It's the insulating material inside the mufflers. They will breakdown after years of usage. That's why all mufflers seem to get louder through out its life time.
I don't believe there is any sound deadening material or insulation in a C5 Corvette exhaust system but I could be wrong of course .

So really those with high mileage Z06 exhaust should be charging more for breaking them in and sounding louder. Otherwise your paying more for a wimpy quite sound
I believe (but don't quote me) that these were over $2k when new, which probably had something to do with their sales volume. They occasionally turn up on the used market, and are quickly snapped up at a good price.
The titanium exhaust, OEM or Corsa, is really quite amazing technology, and very expensive to make. Check the replacement price on a C5 Z06 muffler assembly sometime.
I am a former aicraft industry welder and welded Titanium on an almost a daily basis. It IS weldable, but MUST be done in a completely inert atmosphere, i.e. no Oxygen present. It can only be TIG welded in a Argon chamber or with a trailing cup, otherwise it oxidizes almost immediately and has zero structural integrity. Not equipment your average welding shop posesses, especially a muffler shop.
