Default Oil Change

I always used the 10,000 mile oil. I just had a change and they put in regular oil. Any thoughts. C5 2004 18,000 miles

I wouldn't use anything but synthetic oil in the Vette!

Can you be more specific on the oil type?

You are supposed to use synthetic. Mobil 1 comes in it from the factory. I would be very upset if they put regular oil in my C5. Go back and have them drain the regular oil and put in synthetic tomorrow.

You do not need Mobil 1. you ned a synthetic oil that meets GM4718M
IF they put in a non GM4718M oil have it cahnged immediatley and have the dealership document in writing that they erred.

Default "they"?

Who the heck is "THEY" anyway? "THEY" don't sound smart enough to be changing your C-5's oil. GEEZZ, go to Wally World(WalMart) and buy the Mobil One on sale and just use it, that is what Bowling Green wants you to use. And I am certain that Bowling Green probably is frowning on the fact that you had "THEY" change your oil. Harley and Zora are certainly spinning in their graves at the thought of "THEY" changing your oil.

The C5 should have synthetic oil in it. If they put conventional oil in there, take it back and have them put the right stuff in there.

REMOVE and RELACE W/ Synthetic!

It's better for our motors and if you have a warranty it is the recommended type to use!

Thanks,Matt

"THEY" changed my friends C5 oil and put in non-synthetic. 8,000 miles later, the engine failed. GM did a test and found traces of regular oil, and would not honor the warranty. My friend sued "THEM" and won (he's an attorney, though), and got a new engine at 38,000 miles.

Better get "THEIR" flub in writing, if it indeed was non-synthetic oil.

Good luck.

Drain and refill with an approved synthetic oil.

The reason GM specified synthetic oil for the C5 is because they were too cheap to put in an oil cooler. Oil temperatures in a C5 run too high for normal oil, but synthetic oil can take the higher temperatures.

You are risking engine damage with regular oil !
