Both my driver and passenger windows have simultaneously quit working. I can hear the relay click when the button is pressed on either door, but there is no attempt at motor movement.
I will try the banging of the speaker and shaking the rubber accordian tomorrow, but do you know why both would stop at the same time? All the other switches work fine and they all light up as well.
I searched this issue but never found anyone losing both windows at the same time. I'm afraid its a CENTRAL harness issue. I don't think it's relay related, since it's unlikely both would go at the same time.
I tried the common banging on the doors and shaking\squeezing the accordian. Nothing gives. There is no corrosion under the battery or under the kick panel.
Maybe the problem that happens to one window has happened to both of yours at the same time. Just a SWAG but possible. What about the fuse? Have you checked it?
If you hear the click of the relay, the door should be getting power. You might be able to get them to work for awhile by banging on them but you will eventually have to replace the window regulator unit.
If you have a 2001 model and have never replaced the window regulator, consider yourself lucky. I just replaced my passenger side regulator on my 04, and the driver's side is acting up. I used to think the passenger side normally quit first from non-use, so after the first time it stuck, I started rolling it down every few days, but eventually it quit working completely.

Everyone needs to learn how to change out window regulators, as GM charges about $350 for parts plus labor ($250??) Retail pricing. Plus tax, plus shop supply fees.
In an above post I stated I felt I had solved my relay problems when I discovered my battery was bad. A new battery was installed and all the relays work fine. The clicking you hear is the relay points closing, but there may not be enough voltage to operate the window motor itself through the relay. Same with the lock. Has anyone else solved this problem this way?
TRY THIS ON BOTH SIDES........................
My passenger door window became stuck/busted the other day in the up position....push the down button and all i get is a "click" sound coming from the door....i'm thinking "ok, this is going to be a pain to fix"... not so!!!! i relate my woes to a good friend and he says to bring the Vette over to his house and he'll have it fixed in 5 minutes....I'M IN!!!!
Tools required:
1 small pocket screwdriver
1 long necked screwdriver
1 hammer
an assistant (unless you're a three armed mutant)
1st: remove the small cover on the door just down and back of the hand grip with the small screwdriver
cover removed:
next, align long necked screwdriver under the rear hex head bolt as shown:
now, while having the assistant turn the key to the "on" position and then repeatedly pushing the window "down" button, give the big screwdriver a couple of whacks with the hammer......window should roll on down.......

that is all.......
Does this permanently fix a loose connection or something? I'll try it but am a little skeptical. However, I was just banging on my door yesterday.
I'll also look into the window regulator from Gene. Thanks alot.
Great, now my passenger side window started working but driver's is still dead. Kind of embarassing yesterday when a car pulled alongside and asked how much I would sell it for and I had to open the door.
