Does anyone use a fuel injector cleaner? Such as the Lucas Oil fuel injector cleaner. I have used the Lucas brand for years in my other vehicles, at each oil change..
First of all, I'm not advocating you do this to your car!
I personally use a gallon of "Toulene", (I buy it at any paint store for around $12), once a year, mixed with 4 gallons of gas. I've been doing this since 97' on all of my fuel injected cars, it works great on my cars, & in my opinion, does the same job as the $100 fuel injector cleaning service at the dealerships. I think I know what you may be thinking; it's a Dangerous chemical, well yes it is, so I wear rubber gloves, & pour it thru a funnel to keep it off the paint, & try not to breathe the vapors. Not to mention, storing it safely & correctly. Please don't try this just because I do this to my own cars & say it works for me, especially if you have any doubts about this chemical & what it can or can't do, as I really don't want any body coming back on me.
An engineer working at Southwest Research, who tests oils/additives said that Techron was the best. Lucas was "old technology". I've been using it every two months and seems to help the car run well.
I use BG44K...Works better than Techron (I've used both, back to back). Not saying Techron is bad, however..
...I have been preaching about 44K for a long time but noone seems to be interested ...I also use Chevron premium gas which has Techron in it so I have the best of both worlds
I use Chevron Techron Plus every couple thousand miles
Use Techron Fuel System Cleaner, not the Fuel Injector Cleaner, for best results. Also, if you have Chevron or Texaco (bought by Chevron) gas stations nearby, the premium fuel contains Techron. Finally, Techron is recommended by BMW and Mercedes for use in their cars so it can't be too shabby.
