I just installed the newest B&M in my C5. Install wasn't bad at all. The shifter is very tight, takes some effort, but nice short throws. I like it, but I don't necessarily love it. It will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks.
I had a B&M in my car for a while but got tired of the effort. I now have a C6 shifter and it's very good. I have seen the Callaway shifter and it is very nice also but very expensive.
Breathless Performance shifter of the B&M Sport shifter. I've gone through 5 different shifter and would go with either one of these. I currently have the B&M shifter as that was the last one I tried.
It's all a matter of what you're looking for as far as feel and comfort.
Had a Hurst, ditched it after about 10K miles -- too stiff for me, but throws were great. C6Z06 now -- nice stiffness level, but throws way too long (though not as bad as stock). I may eventually try the Kirban or the BPP -- I'd have to feel them in someone else's car. I think the best compromise between stiffness and throw was the MTI 6-Shooter, but they pulled it because about half the people complained of vibration issues. Supposedly MTI is attempting to redesign it, but that was months ago.
Had a 63 coupe and a 68 big block both with 4 speeds,my 01 shifts like a dream compared to those other vettes. Unless you are drag racing I think the stock shifter works fine for me anyways
