Given the synthetic oil in the car, is it ever safe to put it away without changing the oil? The oil life monitor says 65%.

Without having any scientific background, I would say "store it". You should be fine. A battery tender would be a nice addition.

Change the oil....
used oil contains acid that leads to rust

I have asked several different people at Mobil and GM, and they have said you will be fine in your situation.

You should be fine unless its been in there a year. So if you have had it in 8 months or less and you are going to store it for 4 months or less you should be fine, then you can change it in the spring

Just for peace of mind, I always change oil prior to storing any vehicle. Combustion byproducts, acid, condensation, etc., are in suspension in your oil. It may not damage the engine, but an oil change -- synthetic oil properties not withstanding -- is cheap insurance, and makes me feel better.

I leave my synthetic oil in over the winter and the 1st day that I take the car out and the oil gets nice and hot, then I change the fluids. Condensation will creep in by sitting in the garage all winter so there might as well be some oil in it til I change it......bob.

Its only snow (and salt yes), but drive it and wash it off later---
Storage is not an option, even if i do have a second vehicle.

Bought it to drive it, not garage it.

When I put mine away for the winter, I always change the oil - even if the oil life monitor shows a lot of oil life left. I usually only change the oil once a year due to the low miles I put on the car and that change is just before storage.
