I try to change it within a couple hundred miles of putting it away, start it and run it to temp a couple of times over winter and then change the oil when I take it back out in the spring.

Leaving 'dirty' oil in the block all winter and changing it in the spring to avoid moisture is kinda foolish. That little bit of H2O that forms over the winter is gone with a little spirited driving first time out in spring. I sleep better knowing the innerds are coated with fresh product.
