Hey guys,
This is my first post and I am new to this site. I just bout a 1997 Corvette 2 days ago and have some questions.
I am having a problem with the ABS and Traction Control. After driving for a little bit the lights will come on and the message center will say service ABS system and Traction Control system. It doesn't always do it but about 75% of the time it will. Epecially if I hit a bump they will appear right away. Can anybody help??
Thanks,
Jared
Did you check for codes? Chances are it's a loose or dirty wiring connection at the wheel speed sensor. Or possibly a faulty speed sensor which is part of the wheel bearing hub assembly.
I am not sure if this would casue your problems or not, but make sure you have the correct size tires. That does cause issues with the ABS, but not sure about the traction control. Good luck
Welcome to the club. If you do a search you will see a million threads about it. It could be the ebcm going bad (easily rebuilt for cheap) but as mentioned it could be a few different things such as a bad connection.
see if you can pull up codes, and post them, once you get them up Im sure there is someone out there that can help explaining it
if you dont know how to pull codes,
hold the (4)configure then press (1)fuel four times and they should come up and write them down, make sure you put the h or c at the end to see if they are (c)urrent or (h)istory.
Had the same problem on my 2000 Grand Am GT, turned out to be a dirty/corroded ABS sensor on the front right wheel.
Just did not drive it much after buying the vette---
Check your plugs and clean if corroded.

Best place to start is there.
Plug your tire sizes into a tire calculator. There should be 0.50 to 1.0 inches between the circumference of the front tire and the rear tire. The rear being the larger of the two.
Take into account that if the ratio is close to 0.50" and the rubber is worn on the back, it will be less than 0.50 and you will get the code.
Awesome guys. I didn't even think it could be a problem with the tires. They're regular tires that have been on 3 different cars and look like slicks now. So I'll get the tires on first and go from there!!! Thanks again!!!
You have a crack on the circuit (usually on a soldier joint) board on the ABS module in the back.
You can drive your Vette w/it removed so you can still drive your Vette! So go here or call them and send it to them and you'll have it back and fixed w/in a couple of days!
This is why your getting the message-It's the same one I got on mine when I had to have it fixed!
