I have the top down much more than I thought I ever would. Preach on brother.

If you want storage, buy a minivan.

There's no comparison...the coupe has close to twice as much luggage space. When we travel with our 99 coupe we get 2 sets of golf clubs, two large (soft) suitcases, two ice chests and a myriad of other small bags, etc. in it..

What do I do???

How much less luggage room is there? Is there anybody out there who is sorry they bought a vert?

Thanks for your comments.

you can put 2 golf bags with top up
you can put enough luggage for a few days.when you check-in at your destination put the bags in the room, then put the top down.

I have the vert and it is astounding. I only really enjoy my car when the roof is down.

Worlds only 7* hotel Burj Al Arab, Staff who park Zonda's said " Very nice car sir wow"

Al Badia 5* golf course , staff move Bently GT out of top parking space to sit my car at the front door

Emirates palace, staff park Convertable at front door (they dont even park it with the other plebs).

So many times i have driven up to gated comminities, reserved parking or guest only parking with the hood down. Secuity dont even question me. This wouldnt happen with the roof up

(Note: This is in a world of Veyron, Enzo's and Zondas)

Finally boot space, with the roof down i can get a set of golf clubs in, with the roof up I can get two sets - more than enough. I can easily get a monthly food shop in too.

If you will be driving it regularly (as in daily driver) I wouldn't even consider a convertible without the optional hardtop for it. All the convertibles I own have them and I wouldn't have it any other way (better security, less risk of vandalism, extends soft top longevity, better top-up appearance IMO, etc.).

Better security

All corvettes have a big button on the horizontal that says "Unlock".....

What you thinking they are going to use a pen knife to rip though the roof...

less risk of vandalism
If someone is going to key your car, they will. The fabric roof would be stupidly difficult to rip.

Top up appearance
None hard tops look older in style imo.

I have a C4 Vert, and a C5 Vert.
The C5 has ample room for clothes for two for a one week vacation. There is no appreciable wind noise with the top up. Top down driving is second only to the feel of riding a Harley down the road.
There will always be a Vert in our garage.

The roof has an inner liner that covers the brackets and roof supports so looks as good as any factory headliner. The AC sill freeze you out of the car in a matter of minutes in the Texas sun. The trunk is huge, has all the floor space of a coupe, you just loose a little height. The top folds into the truck so you will loose a little space when it is down. You can actually fit a number of items between the top and the back of the seat when it is folded down in the trunk. It is much quieter with the top down than any coupe I have been in with the top off. And all the vert/coupe top up/down storage space is BS anyways, because a coupe looses almost all of its storage space when the top is in the back.
The only negative to the vert is the rear pillars are rather wide. With the top up, you will have less visibility out the rear corners as a coupe. This can get a little annoying when backing out of a parking spot with tall cars on both sides of you. Nothing matches the visibility with the top down.
Go look it over and take a test drive. It can't hurt.

Default Happy Vert owner

It was an emotional decision for me, not a technically driven decision. I simply wanted to have a convertible. I'm guessing that it will sell faster than a coupe if I keep the price reasonable whenever it is time to sell.

The next one may be a coupe (maybe 2009 model) now that my desire for a convertible has been satisfied. We'll see.

Don't over think it.

Uh...OK...

Bottom line. If you think a convertible top is not a greater target for vandalism than a non-convertible for a thief/ scumbag looking for something as small as a pair of sunglasses or even visible pocket change laying out in view you're just kidding yourself. They wouldn't think twice about slashing a top as it's quick and quiet.

Never made mention about getting 'keyed' so who knows where you got that from? The point was obviously about vandalism with reference to the soft top just as the other three items in the same sentence were which you seemingly understood.

You are entitled to your opinion regarding appearance.

I was leaning towards a coupe myself (01-03) but I've seen some very good prices on a few verts in the last couple weeks! I guess I better take the advice posted here and drive both before making up my mind.

Default Vert v Coupe

I admit my bias. I have a 99 mag red vert which puts a smile on my face every time I drive it (or even think about driving it). When I bought the car earlier this year, I was a little concerned about trunk space. However, it has not been a problem for us, although the coupe clearly has more space. My wife and I each have a 26 Victorinox Trek PackPlus wheeled backpack that we use for extended trips abroad. It is all of the luggage we take on those trips. Each pack has 5000 cubic inches of space (26"x16"x12.5"). I didn't think that our luggage would fit in the trunk. I was wrong. Because of the dimensions of the packs (including a rounded top) both of them, plus a small soft cooler and misc odds and ends easily fit into the vert trunk. You have plenty of luggage space for an extended trip if you have the right luggage and know how to pack. If we're doing a golf trip, we can get two sets of clubs in the trunk, and take flat suit bags and small duffles instead of the packs. My buddy has a coupe. There is no comparison. Although his car is great, the vert is much more fun to drive. We live in Oregon and do a lot of secondary highway driving through spectacular scenery. Driving with the top down through the countryside is a special experience. It is noisy with the top down, but well worth it. It is amazingly quiet with the top up. I don't drive my car in the rain, but do enjoy it with the top down unless it gets "cold" (under 55 degrees) and then the top usually goes up. Before you buy, I suggest that you drive a vert and a coupe to see what you like best. My vote is for the vert. Good luck. I promise you will love whichever model you buy.

Have you ever seen the convertable? The fabric would be very difficult to rip, even if you did you still would have no access to the inside give the roof has steel bars. No one will break into your corvette this way. This method of entering convertables went out a long time a go.

A metal coat hanger is more than sufficent to open the doors on any corvette. Or the old tried and tested window smashing.

The instances of breaking into convertables via the roof is almost unheard of in Glasgow in Scotland (High Crime Rate) its an myth in this day and age, it would be a long and complex affair.

Indeed I challange you to find a single corvette convertable owner whos Vette has been broken into / stolen via the roof.

Dubai we have no crime, leave keys in, windows down no one will touch it - not my problem you are all scum bags

This is a similar post to one I posted about two months ago.

My post results were REAL simple. try them both and buy the one you like the most..

As a very sexist analogy (apologies to the ladies)

Do you like a lady with big bo....obs

or one with a nice bu....tt.

Again apologies for being sexist but "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Forgive me for assuming, but I think your mind is made up already. You just need a little validation and naturally the Vert owners chimed in to encourage and the Coupe owners chimed in to give you the virtues of having a Coupe

Anyway, My first Vette was a Vert. At first, I was very leery of verts, but once I test drove it and then drove it home with the top down, it was all she wrote

I had to get rid of it after 4 months due to various issues with the car, but I tell you, that car was head turner (magnetic red, BTW). Now that I have a Coupe, I see what the coupe owners were talking about. The Coupe I have now suits my needs AND tastes. Coupes are certainly the more practical of the two body styles. My Vert was a DD, so that should not deter you from getting one for that purpose IMHO.

I wasn't sorry I bought the vert because it was a vert. If I could have found another one in replacement, I would have. I LOVE my coupe, much better car than the vert I had (3 years newer, still under warranty, XM radio, fully loaded, etc.) but I sure miss my vert

It all comes down to practicality. Would a vert suit your habits better than a coupe? If you can answer that question, then you will be able to better decide. If you live in an area where you will hardly take the top down, then you just have to decide if that is acceptable to you or not. Its a viceral experience enjoyed by few to drive a Corvette drop top on a sunny day with the top down

There is plenty of space in the vert trunk. The wife an I can get two wheeled carry on bags and other miss. stuff in it easy.

I have had two large golf bags in it with the top down and gone to the course on several occasions. Mark
