Hi guys Have been looking for a auto coupe for about a month local, could not find any so far. Today I was offered a 2003 ZO6 for 28900. What do you guys think of a Z as a weekend car, no race, just a fun car for a guy in early 60's. Is this car too much performance for just a sunday driver??? Is the 6 sp hard to get used to?? Do not know what was options, but car has HUD, Memory, power seat's both sides. Do not know what else. Local one owner, a Dr. traded on new car. Any info you could give me would help.
Please help, info, comments. Almost forgot, 13000 miles.

the Z06 is pretty good, and I don't think its "too" much for a weekend car, it definitely has a lot of power but its managable. They are far more rigid than coupes and the 6speed isn't too hard to get used to, if you can drive a manual semi-competantly. Its also pretty easy to learn on. I think you found a pretty good deal.
That's a good buy on that car. Plus, corvettes are supposed to have a stick shift. I bought my '03 Z a few months back and can't believe I waited that long. If you really want a late model vette then buy it. You will love it.
They are good cars, but don't get fooled. If you want a car to drive on trips and just the weekends, you may not want a Z. they are a lot more solid of a car, and you will fell the road a lot more. The tires are an inch wider all around, and the shocks/springs/sway bars are all stiffer. The seats are not as comfortable as the sports seats you can get in a coupe or a vert, and there aren't as many adjustments. The clutch is also firmer than the ones in a coupe. They are great performance cars, but the general sacraficed some comfort to get there.
Corvette is a sports car..... why not go the max... Z06. Thats a killer price! Most sports cars are manual. Thats why I got one. My older vette was a auto..... Love to shift!!! Only problem is the constant wet spot you will have every time you drive.....
Get the Z and GO..... you'll never look back. Nothing but FUN
I think that's a good price for a low mileage Z. I got an A4 coupe since there is alot of traffic around me in NJ, and I wanted to be able to remove the top.I almost bought a Z, and they have alot of power and are fun to drive, and there are times I wish I had a 6spd. My reservation for you, is that, you apparently are not used to driving a 6spd.A Z has ALOT of power, and it can be a handful if you don't know what you're doing. If you're just cruising, want to be able to take the top off, my advice is to keep looking for what you had in mind originally, which was an A4 (auto) coupe.I have one, and I have a few mods, plan on a few more( gears,tc, exhaust), and for my needs, it's perfect. You can always get more performance out of a coupe, but it doesn't make sense to go the other way with a Z. Leave the Z's to the sometimes track guys, full time WOT junkies, who really use a Z to it's potential.

I wanted a Z06 but settled on a 6spd coupe...Luv the glass top & the open feeling & trunk space...I dont like the closed in feeling of Z06 cockpit (however they are truly awesome cars!!!) Also, the LS1 has plenty of power if you don't plan to race it...either way you won't be disappointed..
Im getting close to 60,, had a c6 vert,, sold it,, bought this 04 z06... dont miss the vert,, dont miss the magnetic ride,,, dont miss the auto... love the sound of the z, love going through the gears,, and dont listen to the people that tell you that it rides rough... they dont remember the big block vettes from the sixties, now those were rough... this z06 is civilized, fun, and no rattles, and just a total wonderful experience to own... you will have a ball in it...
I am 65 and bought my 03 Z 4+ years ago. Fantastic car. The seats are just as comfortable as the regular C5 sport seats they just do not have the lumbar supports and other features which will be problematic items as the car ages. If you always wondered what it was like to drive a 60s L88 without all of the driveability problems of an L88 then go for the Z. Also the Z handles much better than the old L88s. You can run the car hard or just putt putt down the street. It will do it all.
I really dont mean to make anybody mad here, but, from my perspective the Z06 looks better than the coupe. Something about the FRC's stance makes the car look better. That is just aesthetics though. Just my opinion.
I thought about it for a while, drove both and bought a 6 speed coupe. I like the targa top and tons more trunk space, the seats are nicer but.....I love the stance and attitude of a Z, plus I was not offered a Z at that price either, thats at least $4k less than I could find one for when I was looking a few months ago. Personally, I would go with the Z, but I am a performance freak.
