A 1996 T-Bird has a 4.6L SOHC truck motor, which makes 205hp. The car is also heavy (3500 lbs) and will be lucky to run high-15s with the slush-o-matic. Most likely his 'exhaust' is just weld-in Flowmasters which probably removed horsepower.
That 'Ernie Irvin' garbage is probably just some stickers the dealer added on in order to make more money off of the car.
That car is a joke, but you can't blame him thinking it's fast if he's never driven a car with more than 200 hp before.
the car is unfortunately rather beat up, even for a 96. it sounds really good to be honest with you. he's got the cats removed which is probably what gives it such a great burble sound. its definitely not blown though, my ears would have picked up on that quickly. he claims it would be in the low 13s, but if my car runs as well as others on this forum with the mods I have a good driver should be able to put it in the high 12's (although I know I couldn't do it) neither of us have taken our cars to the track yet that I know of, so its all just guesswork. I didn't think he'd stand a chance, but its all for bragging rights, I doubt we'll ever race.
Trust me, that's a 15-sec car at best. I've had 3 vehicles with the 4.6L. There are no aftermarket parts for that motor so if he's not blown, he still near the 205hp mark. Removing the cats are good for 5-10hp at best.
People are so funny. I had a guy at work who thought his GTP was faster than a Mustang GT. Corvettes are the measuring stick of a fast American car so the comparisons will keep coming.
Oh my 0-60 in 7 Secs..... Just about every hot hatch would give him a whooping.... Laugh in his face as you drive by in a hired Golf GTI, Astra VXR, Renault Megan, Seat Ibiza, Civic lol.....
Only two cars have given me a scare - Evo 7 Stage 2 Clutch (needless to say he would smack me around corners). BMW M5.
Mock him, mock him some more, laugh in his face then mock him some more.

I bought my Daughter a 1994 ThunderBird Super Coupe, as her first car. it has an automatic(5 speeds were avail). It is a great car, handles nice, good milage, comfortable. It is not in the league of a C5. It was not designed to compete with sports-cars.
Great car for a teen, daul airbags, standard ABS, lots of steel around them. I removed the "octane plug" which retards the timing 4 degrees to allow regular fuel and cuts power.
