Hi. My question is whether the chrome wheels were a factory option and if they can still be bought from the dealer?
I got into a small wreck 10 months back and am still messing around with my insurance company to get the right wheel put on here. They first put a polished wheel on and said that chrome ones did not come from the factory. Then they found some chrome ones at the local speed shop but the offset is now 1/2" off and it really affects my driving. So they feel like they cant get anything else. I told them the only option then is to replace the 3 other wheels then to match the one that has the wrong offset since they cant get it right. They agreed to that but since they have $1000 budget on "aftermarket" parts, which they think these rims are Id have to pay the remaining balance of 200 or so since they tell me it'll come to somewhere over 1200 for 3-4 wheels. But help me out guys. Im getting really frustrated with this insurance company and only want to get this ordeal done with so i can get rid of them.
Chrome wheels were never an option on any Corvette until recently on the C6. If you have the GM markings on the rear of your wheels, on the spokes, then you have GM wheels which were aftermarket chromed. If this is the case, then get that polished factory (or painted) chromed.
Some Dealers did this on new C5s, so the owners thought they were from the factory.
You can buy a really nice set of chrome reproductions from somebody like House Of Wheels for less that $1,000.00. Or you can find one or 2 Chrome wheels in C5 Parts.
