I am in need of new tires. I don't drive my Vette everyday but I need a good tire, on a budget though. I basically drive around town and maybe thirty mins away from the house....so run flats are nice (that's what is on there now), but maybe not what I need. I do have free towing through my insurance company, so its not really an issue.
I just need a good all around tire. I appreciate your inputs. This forum is a huge benefit!!!
I don't know your location, but I have been using AVON's tech M550 a/s.
My vette is a daily driver and I put way more miles than you do. The tires and quiet, inexpensive and non runflats.
I purchased from tirerack. Excellent service!!!
I had a set of Firestone Wideovals, $750.00 installed for Z06 size. 275/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rear. I have Michelin PS2's now and the Firestones were much quieter. Also like the Kumho. Best mod was loosing the runflats. The car ran smoother and much quieter

I just put Firestone Firehawk Wideovals on my Z, and so far they seem to be a good tire. Look on Tire Rack.
I just purchased 4 michelin run flats for my '01 coupe. I usually put around 500 miles a month on the car. I went with the run flats for the piece of mind knowing that if the tire was to go flat at least I could drive it home or to a tire dealer to get it fixed. The tires are less expensive than the goodyears.
Check out General Aclaim UHP tires. I recently bought a set and the price was approx $450 for a set of four NON run flats. The price was for the removal of the old RFs, installation and balancing of the UHPs, and putting them on the Vette. They are ZR rated. I bought a tire repair kit, a small electric pump, and a tarp to lay on while I fixed any flat thay may occur. Short of a blowout, the DIC will warn me of a tire going down in time to get off the road and positioned for the repair. The tires are much more quiet than the RF tires.
Just went from stock runflats to Avon Tech M500's. Major noise reduction, and ride improvement. Haven't had them enough to tell about wear. But they stick well, do well in curves. Tirerack has them at a good price.

Just put a set of those on a few months ago. Better ride, less noise, and still a runflat.
I’d say it depends upon your driving habits as well as your budget. If you want piece of mind and don’t wish to damage a wheel, stay with run flats.
If you’re on a budget, stay away from the 200 mile capable Goodyear’s and buy another brand of run flats at much less cost (even half). Check out the web sites of the forum tire companies.
If you drive your car REAL hard, then “never mind”.
Noise is another matter - I have no recommendation.
Know that some people stay away from run flats because they think that they “drive hard” but actually do no such thing. Others, myself included, are just nuts and have the tickets to prove it. Triple digits on backcountry roads are normal for me. (158MPH two weeks ago – however not on a backcountry road.) I was doomed from the get-go. The first time I was alone after receiving my license at 16, I took the family car out just to see what its top end speed was. Over time, I learned how to handle blowouts at speed through hands on experience. Ahhhh, the good old days.
Firestone Wide Ovals are like driving on ICE! We took the BFG G-Force KD's off the car and decided to go with something cheaper. The Firestone Wide Ovals are narrower than the BFG in the same size, and they don't have half as much grip as the bald BFG's. I wish we had picked something else. I recommend the KDW's if you drive the car is all kinds of weather (except snow).
I purchased a set of Firestone Wide Ovals in the Z06 sizes...great improvement over the stock GY runflats ...quiet & smooth and better handling as well....especially in rain,,,,definately a great tire at the price level ..no regrets..
good luck..
