yah but that didndt inlclude tax...it came out to like 26000 with everything....plus all the other money i put in it....and time....i think i should get 25500 at least.....plus its an insurance comp.....they should pay more
Consider yourself lucky. Some guy pulled out in front of my wife and totaled here Grand Prix GXP, that we just bought for $23,000. They would only give us $18,500 for it since they go my local market value. There was only one GXP local so they went by the price on car.
We hired an attorney and got another $2000 (but that cost us to!).
Insurance companies... Lower rates up front, but they'll get you in the end!!

Sister and Bro in law had their car wrecked while sitting at a light. All they asked for was their medical expenses and a new car. The guy's insurance said no; your car had 2,300 miles on it we won't pay new price. Sister got lawyer and they wound up with brand new car, medical expenses and $50,000 for pain and suffering.

wow ...great to hear they came out on the good end, especially the medical expenses.
This is a very strange request! Why would you need to put parts back on a car that's headed for the crusher?!? I have a set of wagon wheels (no tires) taking up space in my garage, but I'd rather give them to someone that needed them for winter tires, than the crusher!! What gives?

Unless you declare mods/upgrades on your insurance, they will only give you the market value. All three of my Vettes are on collector policies with agreed values. Same with my bikes...agreed value policies. If you have the receipts for all of the mods, you might be able to work on them for more money. They will probably only pay for the parts (no labor) at a depreciated rate. No way will they consider taxes, doc fees, etc from the original purchase.

The only cars that go straight to the crusher are total burns. The others go after the parts are sold, or to be PC, recycled.

This is exactly why i always take GAP insurance when I buy a car. The extra GAP insurance which is usually offered at time of purchase, covers the amount you owe on the car in case your payoff is more than what insurance is willing to give you. Its not that expensive and a safe peice of mind should something happen to your car right after you buy it.
I have a stock exhaust system I'll send you, you just pay shipping and we're good. Let me know if you want it. (2000 Vert with 18K miles, I switched to a Z06 Ti system)
