Default Madd at myself

I'm not sure when or how this happened but it happened We went out for a little ride on Sunday and I just noticed this today. My C5 is not a DD so I didn't see it until just now. It may have happened when I was pulling out of a parking lot. I do remember hitting the front end at one time Sunday(rookie Vette driver) Do you guys think I can sand it out with like a 1500 grit and buff it out etc or am I looking at a repainted front fascia. It's not real deep.

Yes, with a little abrasive in it but that just took off the asphalt marks.

It's not that bad. Just polish and wax. It's a sports car that hauls a$$ meant to be busted up a little. Unless you use your car for aesthetic purposes then that scratch is pretty bad, but buffing with polish should do the trick.

Try buffing with a rotary with medium compound first. its low enough where it might not show up.

Go to the main menu page and scroll down to the Care Care Discussion (detailing forum) and ask them.
My guess is if you can feel the damage with your finger nails, then the damage is through the clear coat and maybe into the base coat. It looks like it's through the base coat at the very bottom (dark streak).
I doubt that it could simply be sanded and buffed as new. A good shop should be able to repair it w/o painting the entire front bumper unless you have other dings that need attention at the same time.

I posted in both areas but this one gets hit more. The black is a asphalt mark that will come off. Thats the bad thing is that front end is perfect or was I should say

Hey it happens to the best of us.
If you have a body shop or detail shop you know, and are good, have them give a quick opinion and maybe have them do it. The main thing is to save you bumper paint if it is original because it is much more durable than any re paint. Looks to me that most, not all of it will come off. If you have some 1500 or 2000 use it but after a compound first to see if good enough.

I feel for you. I thought I had done the same thing this past Saturday Night, but got lucky and I had only caught the skid plate. Man was I happy at that point. I always stay way back, but this time the bump stop sneaked up on me.

Unfortunately, part of doing business with a Corvette. I scuffed the underside of my front fascia a couple of weeks ago! Damn, I hate those rain troughs they put at the edge of the road! Anyrate, my car is a driver, I drive it Thursday and Friday to work, and every Sunday for a cruise. Yes, it's being washed in torrential rain outside my classroom as we speak!

I feel for you. That looks almost identical to the scrap I put on mine a few weeks ago (same color too!) I was leaving work and got too close to the curb as I was turning around, I heard it and I knew it was bad. I didn't even get out to check since home is close. there was red on the concrete...it took less than 5 minutes to get home and check out the damage, fortunately you can hardly see it if you are standing near the car. I used some touch up paint to cover the damage. you can still tell if you get down there and look at it, but for the most part its in visible. eventually my whole front end needs paint, too many rock chips!

good luck!

Had mine been lowered, this past Saturday I would have hit the bump stop head on.
