I figured that I had nothing to lose at that point and that if I screwed it up It was going to a Body Shop in the morning, which I might still do in the future and I'm no done with it yet I'm going to order up a buzz can of GM touch up paint and lightly hit that area around the duct and try to blend it in. Thanks for all the good comments and I'm glad I could share.

very nice a little time and bravery is all it takes sometimes! way to go
That's always been my motto. I rarely pay anyone to do anything for me mainly because I'm so cheep. I had a auto shop teacher tell me once to never be afraid to try to do anything and that has stuck with me for some 30 years.
But I agree with your basic philosophy. I once took our dryer apart to attempt to fix it (it worked!) and my wife came in as the pieces were scattered about and she asked, "Have you ever fixed one of these before?" My reply was, "No, but I have never FAILED to fix one before either."

I was waiting for the "no but I slept at a Holiday inn last night" response. My wife thought I had totaly lost my mind when I tore apart the GTO with only 14,000 miles on it.
