Sweet looking C5 - thanks for the pics and welcome to the forum.
I live in central Illinois and have some experince with from plates (or the lack thereof) in Illinois.
You might get aaway with it for a long time around town, but the state troopers LIVE to find a Corvette with no front tag.
I put over 40k miles on my Z06 with no front plate, and then one morning there was a state trooper sitting on a side road out near my rural home and bingo! Warning ticket.
It only took a couple of weeks of running my wifes 99 coupe without a front plate, but it was a local LEO that got me in Peoria - warning ticket.
I had been drving my Cobalt SS for a month without a front plate, and on the interstate I passed a state trooper - you guessed it - he came through the center median and chased me down to give me a warning ticket for no front plate.....
On the way home from Cordova Dragway this past Sunday, a caravan of three Corvettes, led by me, came upon a state trooper rolling eastbound on I74....the trooper slowed to 50mph and carefully inspected each of our cars as we went by. The second car in the caravan had no front plate. BINGO! The LEO pulled that car over and gave him a warning ticket for no front plate.
So - yea, you can get away with it for a while, and as experience has shown you will likely just get a warning ticket, but you gotta ask yourself..."Do I feel lucky?".
Well.....Do ya?
I prefer not to get pulled over by every state tooper that I pass, so now I run a front plate on all of my cars.
No big deal. I got over it. Congrats on the new ride -
best regards -
