Anyone tried the Hotchkis stabiliser bar kit (front and back) for the
C5? Any improvement in handling. Is it worth it?
Also, I spotted a 'bump steer kit' on the west coast corvettes site. Has anyone tried this and does it stop the tendency to get thrown off line if you hit bumps going around a corner? It also mentions that there is some noise associated with which I do nor understand.
I was also wondering which set of shock absorbers improve handling significantly without making the ride any different to stock?

You'll get a lot of different opinions on this topic. I upgraded to Z06 sway bars, Bilstein sport shocks and lowered. I then had a 4 wheel alignment and have been very happy with the results.

I did the exact same thing. It was affordable and the difference was like NIGHT and DAY. Highly recommend it.
Also, don't forget your selection of tire also has a large part to play in handling. radials > runflats

Same here but added Magnesium wheels for less unsprung weight on Dunlop Sports

The bump steer kit will help this, but only if you have the car bump-steered after installing the kit. Many people just buy the kit and then put it on and think they are good to go. You really have to measure the toe throughout the suspension travel and adjust the spacers in the kit accordingly to reduce the toe change. If you don't understand bump steer then get a pro to do it.
The reason for the "noise" disclaimer is because the kit is solid and there is no real cushion in it, the original tie rod ends would isolate some of that noise. IMHO I prefer a more solid feel, and the noise is minimal.
I put the Hotchkis bars on my 98 back in 2002 and never looked back they are kind of pricey but worth every penny to me.
The Z06 bars are good but have a somewhat lower roll rate being smaller in dia.
Actually they fall right between the Z06 bars and the T1's and I have never had any noise from them.
