Halloween has never really celebrated much in the UK because it falls close to Guy Fawkes Night 5th of Nov it's not a hioliday and we celebrate Guy Fawkes being captured trying to blow up the houses of parliment!

I think there would be even bigger celbrations if he had suceeded!

Anyway for those who find it hard to believe that a TV prgram could influence kids behaviour.

Blue Peter was a very very popular TV program that goes back at far as the 1960's in the UK in had a huge following.

No they rang a item showing the kids what happens in the USA on Halloween and focused on the Trick or Treat thing.

They showed the kids how to make their outfits out bin liners and anything else that could be got hold of cheaply.

This making stuff cheaply and showing the kids how to do it was a speciality of the program.

Now I know for a fact it never existed when I was a kid and it only started here in the mid 1980's because of active enchourangement by the BBC's TV program Blue Peter.

The 80's also gave us Knightrider and it was a big feature on there also!

So there you have it something that never existed in the UK was brought about by careless TV hype now we are reaping the benifits!

Nice all hallows artical I didn't see trick or treat in there anywhere though!

So it may be a light hearted thing on here but it has a nusiance here!
Ok I'm off my soap box now!

I think that "careless tv hype" line has out lived it's usefulness ... TV is never going to change and if parents taught their kids the difference between right and wrong and society in general ... ie video games, music, etc etc didn't glamourize violence and make it acceptable ... maybe things might be different.

What's up for Christmas?? ... all those programs promoting giving the little beasts gifts ... oh the unmitigated horror of it all

And encouraged our kids to follow suit!

Now certain areas of the country have 999 calls (911 to you guys) calls every 2 mins on Halloween night due to problems caused by kids throwing eggs at OAPS houses and putting fireworks through people letter boxes and generally terrorising old people ETC ETC
To give them sweets and for what witches and ghosts and gouls WTF!
What a crock of ****!

Halloween you Can stick it one of the worst Americanised crap things to come to the UK!

I've never had any problems on Halloween. I guess American kids are just better behaved and supervised than British kids!

Maybe we don't have "careless TV hype"
