I am tired of the faded red, greyish color of my brake calipers so I am going to be a do it yourselfer and paint them in the before the end of the year (when I get a free weekend where I don't have to go anywhere since it is my daily)
My question is should I do with the bright red caliper like you generally see, or should I paint them mag red to match the body.
If I go the mag red route, is there someplace to get the heat resistant caliper paint in that color?
I'd say the Mag Red would look way better than straight red. The powder coating looks awesome but it'll cost you $$$$. A paint kit will probably only run to $25
You'll be OK without high temp paint. It doesn't get too hot outside the caliper. i just used Rustoleum and its been fine.
If you want the regular Mag Red, paintscratch.com do a good match. Its the full three part paint (base/color/clear) Red Tint Metallic Tricoat Code 86/WA379E
I may be wrong, but I bet with proper prep the regular mag red touch up paint would hold up just fine for a everyday car. how hot could the calipers possibly get in normal driving??

ummmm....depends on what "normal driving" is...I tend to be extra spirited most of the time.
Not sure about magnetic red, but I used Dupli Color's high temperature engine paint in black to paint the caliper frame and used dupli color's caliper painting kit to do my calipers in red. Can't beat the quality of their products. Check them out for colors or contact them.
