"I" control the shift point and when I shift, the throttle foot comes up so when power is re-applied, I can control it.
With an auto and the foot to the floor, you don't know when it's going to shift and when it does.....there is your foot ...still to the floor. Guess what's going to happen?
It may be less about the tires and more about what's above...
If you have the traction control on it shouldn't do this (I am pretty sure), if you have the traction control off, it will probably do this every time (that is the point of the traction control). If you have the traction control on and it is doing this, stickier tires or maybe just newer tires might help, but I would consider having the dealership or other qualified tech check it out. Good luck!
I merely scanned the responses to the original post, but I'd didn't see any mention of colder pavement this time of year contributing to less tire grip. If someone already mentioned that and I missed it, my mistake.

No need to be sorry but someone did already mention it. Thanks anyway.
Welcome to the world of an A4 with 3.42 rear gears. Mine does the same thing with 305/30/19 Michelin PS2's in hot or cold weather. Just be careful on the 1-2 shift. I would think a Drag Radial might help, but you probably don't want to run one on a regular basis.

It's just contributed to the gears (added torque), tires, and cold weather. Once the warmer weather comes around it will hold the tires for you. Until then you will have to modulate and be happy that the car is making enough power to do it!!
Hey Doug, I just saw your post. YES, I love the new gears and header setup!! I've had a lot of fun with the newly "spirited" car and would do it again in a heart beat. The car is unfortunately in hibernation for the next few months until spring comes. Fun is just around the corner. Hope you guys had a great New Year.
