Default Popping sound

When I get the steering wheel closer to lock the kinda pops or jumps a little when the car is in motion. I read other threads and they say could be sway link ends or tie rods. Is this something easy to fix? Something just need to be tightened. Could midas or sears do it quickly?

End links could do that and they also cause rattles. I had a similar problem and it was the spring levelers, the rubber had worn off one and caused a popping sound. As for Sears or Midas, probably do not see too many Vettes I would stay away. The end links are pretty easy to replace.

Is there anyway to check for this besides replacing them? Where would be a good place to purchase these? Also, the car (front end) seems to jump while in motion with the wheels turned alway the way. Would end links really cause this?
Thanks for the help!

The end links are available from the dealership about $30 each. Get the metal ones but I believe that is all that is sold now. Mine had the jump (kind of like a 4*4 engaged on concrete) and once the spring was replaced due to adjusters and an alignment was done it went away.

My adjusters were damaged due to it being lowered w/o releasing the spring tension.

I do not know if the 'jump' was due to the spring or the alignment. But at least it will help you with a starting point.

So your educated guess it the spring levers? Is that part of the end links? Did they replace these as part of the alignment? What are the repercussions of not getting this fixed right away? I am not to car savvy!! I was build computers and networks when I should have been building cars.

It is my guess simply because I had a similar issue. As for the spring adjusters they are NOT part of an alignment and also understand that GM does not sell the adjusters by themselves, only come with a spring which is mega bucks from the dealer. You can find aftermarket adjusters from vendors here on the forum if yours are bad or worn. As for repercussions the rubber had worn off my adjuster and was starting to grind into the lower control arm where it rests and Aluminum is soft. You can check this by removing the tire and looking at the lower control arm area where the spring sits. Good luck.

The power steering fluid quickly warms up, so if the car is continuing to do this after about the first 5 to 10 minutes of driving the fluid has nothing to do with it. You may have a problen with the PS pump but flushing the fluid won't fix it.

You really only have two choices at this point .....

1) Jack car and put on jack stands. Remove front wheels ... inspect front suspension for the issues posted by rspreng02_Z06. Inspect for other possible problems such as tie rod issues, whatever. Kinda like when a node goes down ... at some point you just gotta get in there and fix it ... and shooting in the dark is not a good diagnostic technique ( PS fluid .... ) ...

2) Take the car to a dealer or shop that knows Corvettes ( NEVER take ANY car to Midas ... but ESPECIALLY a Corvette) and let them inspect/repair it.

In your case I'd recommend #2 as it sounds like you probably don't have the tools to do the work..

I wouldn't bring an 85 Honda to Sears or Midas.

Okay okay. LOL No sears or midas. The car hasnt done the the sound since it has been a little warmer over the past days. I was just asking about the fuild incase some how water got in the PS line or maybe the wrong fuild tyoe was added. I will just clauk it up to being cold outside.
I have a friend with a 2001 c5 and his garage has everything needed so will do my work there with him.
