I don't understand your post. Are you saying that the fobs are bad? I bought one for less than $20 and it works like a charm. I would gladly do it again.

I am saying that many eBay ones are Fobs with problems.......I got two bad ones in a row from different vendors.
So I just bought a new one......no problems since then.

Oh I see, that's good to know. I can't see why someone would knowingly sell a bad one. I guess I lucked out.

Is it possible to get a replacement FOB w/o the passive entry feature. I don't even use it. Constantly makes me wonder... Did that thing really lock. Then I walk back up to my car and I'm like oh crap... Then I just turn it off and lock it regular. It's a cool feature but in some right kind of silly at the same time.

I'd just get a regular remote and use it if that's possible.

Not possible. Just slide the switch marked "PASSIVE" over to the off position and no more hassles. That's what I and many others have done long ago.

It is possible. Just get the remote for the 2000. It will work with the 97-99 but without the passive feature.

I've never bought one of these remotes before. I'll order the 2000 remote... is there anything special I need to know? How do they program it? Do I need some sort of code off the car?

Look in your owners manual. It describes the procedure step by step. Real simple to do, takes 2 minutes.
