Default Blackwing here too

Here's kind of a worthless picture for now, sorry. I'll get a better one this evening.

If by an "adapter" he might mean a piece of 4" diameter flex tubing. The flex tubing was sent to me in my kit and it was approximately 6" in length and I had to trim it to the correct length. The 4" flex is the new coupling to connect the Blackwing to the air intake. Unfortunately my picture doesn't show it well, sorry. The lowest and most forward "worm drive" clamp you can see in my picture is actually part of the 4" flex tubing I think you are needing and where it is located, everything behind or "downstream" of it is GM stock. The vent tube on the left side of the Blackwing you will have to trim/cut to make the correct fit. Between that vent tube and the main 4" intake is an "indicator" that in my professional opnion (Diesel Mechanic) is "window dressing" it is supposed to measure filter restriction with a spring loaded color indicator green(OK)/red(restricted). I doubt that any loving and self respecting Corvette owner would ever let his/her Blackwing get dirty enough to cause that indicator to turn red. I will be happy to look through my Blackwing box this afternoon Pacific Time, and send you some more pictures. You could also try: www.slponline.com as that is the website for Donaldson, Inc. That is where I purchased the cleaner and recharge kit for it. Everyone recommended that I not use the K & N filter kit. Hope this helps out and I'll post later for you.

Hmm,

Unless he is not sending the rubber coupler im not sure what kind of "Adapter" your gonna need. As far as i can see the only thing needed is the coupler between the MAF and the Blackwing, and that should be included. If its not i woudnt sweat it, im sure we can figure it out when you have it in hand.

As for that air line going into it, thats gonna go away when you do the headers so dont worry about that either

ill look that up, but the filter doesnt connect to the airbridge, it connects to the MAF, maybe the MAF ends are different size?

EDIT Just looked it up, says it requires a 20$ bellows for the 01+ vette, without looking at one im drawing a blank as to why you need this, is the MAF Ends different? (most the vettes i work on dont have MAFS anymore ><)

The 2001 and up MAF is larger than the 97-00. A different boot is required to attach the Blackwing to the 2001 and up cars. It usually comes in the kit if you order a unit for the newer cars. Shown below is a picture of the piece on my 03Z.
