I let my car sit from around mid-November until sometime in March. I keep it hooked to a Battery Tender Plus and just let it sit. Not had any problems at all.
2006 C6 Z06 went through its first winter (mid-October to early April) without a charger and would not start in April 2007. Charged the battery and took it to the dealer. Evidently the battery was shot as they replaced it. No charge. This year I bought a Sears Diehard fully automatic floating charger/maintainer. So far so good. Will know more in April.
Also use Stabil in the fuel and a can of Sea Foam.
i detest Corvette tax...
I use a battery float charger from Harbor Freight... under $10
on my '88 it is attached year round.
on my '01 is is attached Nov-April
Got mine from Wallyworld, it's made by Schumacker, called BatteryCompanion, for under $20., works great! I leave it on unattended from Nov. to April, no problems. That's what it's made for!

Same here. Got a BT for my red top from Harbor Freight for under $10. Use one on my bike as well. Trickle chargers are no good for longer term storage.
I've used "Battery Tenders" on my bikes year-round, no problems for many years. I'm currently on a one year tour to Afghanistan; came home at the half-way point and found my '02 C5 with brand new red-top Optima was dead. My '95 Suburban was also dead. I bought 2 Deltran electronic monitoring chargers for $30/each and put Sta-Bil in both tanks. Hopefully I'll be back on the road with ready to run cars when I come home in April!
I use a tender all the time with my Harley and my Vette. I haven't had to replace a battery since doing so with Any of my vehicles, since 2003. Get the one with the automatic shutoff, then come back and visit after the winter.....bob.
I have cooked a red top ,so now I put a timer on my battery tender and set it for about three hours a day .....maybe over kill .....but the first battery was a warranty replacement from optima ,the one in the car is now 3yrs old and will be on my dime.
