Default Battery Tender or Not?????

How many here use a battery tender for winter storage and don't get to check it. So it is hooked up for 5 or 6 months. Are there any dangers?

You don't want to use a battery tender (trickle charger type) for storage. Use a Float charger. It maintains the battery charge at peak levels without overcharging.

I've used the "Battery Tender" for a couple of years now - no problems. The longest it has gone unmonitored is about 3 months.

I let my car sit from around mid-November until sometime in March. I keep it hooked to a Battery Tender Plus and just let it sit. Not had any problems at all.

Any recommendations on the brand/price of the battery tenders? I am thinking about getting one to store my car for 3-4 months.

I have used a Battery Tender (float charger) on ALL OF MY CARS that sit over the winder (Turkey day ..Thanksgiving) till April Fools day for at least the last 10 years.

I have 5 Corvettes that I "store" and have never had a problem PLUS before I started doing this I would have to replace at least one usually 2 batteries every spring...since I started using battery tenders I have NOT replaced a battery in all of those 10 years...honest 10 years and the batteries are all the same..!

64 72 & 98 Rag Tops
76 & 79 Coupes...

PS....yea the garage looks like a Christmas display in the winter with all those blinking lights

All of mine are from the Battery Warehouse.. (not cheap) BUT I do use a 10 buck one from Harbor freight to keep a 12V 35 AH battery fully charged 24/7 in my Backyard Observatory to power my laptop and Telescope .. that one is only been in use for 2 years but has worked like a charm

I own three battery tenders and just ordered two more. I have one on every car and my generator. They go unattended for long periods of time. The one on my generator has been on there for ten years now with no problems at all. I have total trust in these chargers. You can find them on line for $37.99 for the Battery Tender Plus.

If you are not going to fill up your tank with fresh fuel every two months, put stabil (Fuel stabilizer) in in the fall and your motor will not gum up over the winter, and it will keep your fuel fresh. Battery tenders are also a must.

I have three cars and three motorcycles that get stored all winter. The Deltran Battery Tender Plus is by far the best one out there. Nearly 10 years in the custom motorcycle business taught me a lot about batteries. Custom bike batteries are notoriously undersized and very senitive to over/under charging. The red top in my 99 is five years old, and I have had bike batteries last 4-5 years. Don't buy a cheapo...the Battery Tenders run $50-60 and are well worth it. You just hook it up and forget it 'Nuff said.

The BATTERY TENDER by DELTRAN CORPORATION (either "Plus" or "Jr.") or the CTEK are float maintenance chargers and can be left connected indefinitely to your battery, either installed in the car or removed from the car. They have multiple features to make them safe.
I've had one BATTERY TENDER for over 10 years now and it's never failed to maintain a full charge on any of my vehicles that hibernate. Since the warranty has now lapsed on that charger, I just purchased a second unit.
