I have a 2004 Z06. It did not come with a cd changer. I've attempted to install the ipod2car adapter using the PXHGM4 cable.
My ipod boots up when plugged into the ipod2car interface cable, and it charges while plugged in. The head unit does not change over to the cd changer input when hitting the AUX button though.
Have you checked for a loose cable? The first time I connected mine it was loose on the rear of the radio. It came unseatded. I had the same problem. Also, there are some small dip switches that need to be configured.

Any ideas?
Thanks!
Did you check the pin setting on the ipod2car adapter?

And note there is a "NOTE" on these settings that should have come with the adapter - it changes one setting (cannot remember which one) that are in the instructions.
I'm using 3 and 8 on (config #6), and I checked them a few times before putting the car back together.
same here, dip switch 3 and 8, check the c5 radio faq instructions, you use the one gm harness that comes with the kit, i then bought another from perifiral (sp) that t's into the stock harness, mine works perfectly, stock head-unit controls ipod, charges, sounds great.....pm me if you need more info/ harness part numbers/ installation help
I had also sent a tech support request to the Peripheral Electronics guys, here's what they said:
Try unplugging the module and flipping all the dipswitches up and down a few times; sometimes they get stuck in the middle position. Plug the module back in and reset 3 and 8 back on and see if it works. I have actually had someone have to do this six times before the module was recognized so don’t give up right away. If the problem persists after 7-8 attempts then you have a defective module and you should return it to the original place of purchase for an exchange.
I am interested in knowing the specific cables make and models and any installation help you think would be beneficial. I just purchased a 2004 vert that was not ordered with the 6/12 CD changer in the rear. I'd like to get the ipod working through the car player but have heard it's a little complicated but I'm up for the challenge!
