I didn't the Franker Brass Gear Replacement job about 5 months ago. It worked great until 2 days ago. I check it out and the epoxy that shipped with it failed. The housing is starting to seperate. I removed the motor again and covered it with some Lock-Tite epoxy type stuff but so far it's not setting up very well. I think that's due to not being able to remove all of the old epoxy. Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to get this thing to hold together? I don't wanna drop $130 on a new motor that'll probably just fail down the road. I remember a thread about a guy drilling and screwing together the motor, but I can't find it. Thoughts on how to permanently re-seal this thing?
i drilled small holes around the perimeter of the body and the lid and twist tied them with a small gauge piece of wire. if i ever need to get in there again, i just snip the wire and the top pops off.
you can also buy a set of clamps seperately from rodney's site from what i hear. these clamps should do the trick.
Rodney Dickman designed the brackets to go with his brass gear kit. They do just what you need. I got my gear set from him before he designed the bracket but he sold me the brackets after the event.
