I have nothing to compare it to as it's my first one with GPS but no issues so far. Where did you mount the antenna? I've heard of placing it inside of one of the tail light enclosures, but I used the passenger top corner of the windshield

I haven't hooked up VSS and reverse signal yet, so that's probably why it's no accurate. For right now, my GPS receiver is sitting on top of the shelf behind the seats. It won't be there for long though.
I like your location on the inside top of the passenger windshield.

Gps Ant.
try putting the gps ant. under hood on the fuse box. I have done 5 vetts like that and it works good.you can put them under plastic or fiberglass just not metal.

I like the recessed look on the car, but would definitely be interested in seeing how your flat panel look would come out. If you do it, be sure to post up pics.

Once I saw IDM's post and did some measurements, I decided against all the work in modding the dash.
The only modification I had to do was drill out the shelf below the factory head unit, and slightly shave a little bit off the top lip of the radio opening for the CD player (look at link in post #15).
You may have to remove the bottom shelf (below the HVAC) too... I'm not sure. I had already removed mine for an earlier carpc project.
I will add a cross brace to the structure to make up for the missing shelves.
