Just purchased a WCC X pipe and quad tip Borla stingers. Love the sound when the top is down, but when the top is up I get a bad drone at approx. 2200 - 3000 RPM's wich equo in the cab making it almost unbearable. Yes I can shift out of it but I either have to keep the Vett reved high wasting gas or lugg it. I find that I cruise around 2,500 RPM in 5th most of the time wich puts me in the heart of the drone. Other than that I love them. Also surprised that the X pipe does not rid or reduce the popping nosie on decel. Maybe it has but the new exhaust just makes it louder.
Now to my question. Has anyone here tried trunk sperators to help reduce drone noise? Or is there any other way to reduce the drone? It seems the drone causes an audible vibration that is unbearable. I wouldn't mind the drone but its the audible vibration that does.
good luck man. i went thru the same thing and the only thing that got rid of my drone was a different set of mufflers.
I had Borla Stingers on my car and YES, they sound great. But for me, in the end, the drone drove me nuts and after 6 months, I couldn't wait to get rid of them and I swapped out for Corsa Pace Car... I couldn't be happier. Even with Kooks headers, no drone. They are loud just at increasing acceleration.

its funny you say that because i also ended up with corsa indys! i have AR headers and they sound very sweet together and NO DRONE.
I have been in plenty of cars with Borlas and they all have Drone. Everyone that drives them though loves the sound and overlooks the Drone. I guess it is an acquired taste like Scotch
GHL have no Drone and sound nice. My neighbors complain about the noise in the morning so they still must attract attention outside the car without botheing me inside the car.
I also removed my Stingers but was lucky because Eckles gave me my money back because they advertised them as having absolutely no drone. Bought MagnaFlows. I did like the sound of the Borlas around town but the hyw drive was unbearable.

I hear the drone but its not at all what you describe...at least not for me! I have a 6 speed, I hear the drone between about 1500-2000 rpm only. in 6th gear at 55 or 60 mph in the 1200-1400rpm range the car is virtually silent. 70-75mph puts me in the bad range. again its nothing I can't live with, its not bad at all...until you hit a hill, then I try to shift to 5th, in 6th going up hill at 70 is the only situation where the drone is really bad. other than that it isn't much at all. I have stock exhaust manifolds and H pipe. I don't think I want to go with an X pipe on my C5 because I'm afraid it will make it too quiet and more exotic sounding, I like the sound of the stingers.
