Default catback help needed

Please forgive, I have posted this on the tech.side also

I asked this question before and you all where generous with your replies and advice.....so please help me again, I have purchased a z06ti catback that was removed by being cut just beyond the muffler inlets and I want to install on coupe-my question is: how high do I have to raise the car up to remove the old (assuming I cut off at the muffler inlets) how high do I need to raise the car?.....I know you'll told me that if they where one peice that I needed from 3 feet to 40 inches but I have 2 peices so I am thinking I might not have to get it so high??

...and yes I will have couplings mig welded to the ti exhaust intlets and then clamp the pipes.

Thanks for your help-again!

In my opinion they ruined it when it was cut.

I would say standard floor jack height should be sufficient - about 17-18".

I removed my coupe's exhaust in my garage with a standard floor jack, however I needed extra clearance to snake the pipes out, so I used a 4x4 wood block to get it a little higher, Jack stands on either side for safety, and yeas you must drop the sway bar for the removal.
Hope this helped.. Good Luck

Do you have someone identified and lined up that is qualified to perform the specialized welding required for titanium?

On my automatic, I had to remove the passenger side fuel tank shield, to get the flange past the transmission. I was about 3' off the floor on a 2-post lift. I had to remove the two sway bar bolts and drop the center of the sway bar as well.

I beleive the best thing you can do, is to get yours out, compare the two, and cut the stock pipes, then bolt the stock pipes back in, and hang the titanium mufflers, aling the tips and then tack the pipes together. check the alignment again, and add a couple tacks, then remove the pipes for final welding, since you are REALLY close to a lot of fiberglass under there.

It is not much louder than stock, but the tips look WAY better, and you will loose about 20# of stainless steel.

You might be better off finding someone close that has an old stock system that you can cut up.

I had to cut off the muffler hangers from the stock mufflers and tack them back together on the titanium mufflers when I swapped mine.
