Default C5 or C6 used

I am new to the site. However not new to Corvettes. I use to own a 1976. I know those year vettes....
My question is...

What would be a better vette to own used C5 or C6?
I'm thinking about getting a 2003 50th, 2002 Z06, or a C6 reg. vette if you will 6sped manual. I plan to use the car as a daily, well except bad weather and winters. Maybe join a club and go to the track, but not much mods added. Maybe exh. cold air intake, and cam (maybe). Most likely stock.
I see prices all over the place so lets leave price out of it. I am reading this site gathering info at this time.
Thanks for your replies. Look forward to hearing....

It is a personnel preference, best to go test drive both and pick what you want.

As for preference on body style, comfort handling, etc.. I agree that is a personal preference. IMO, price aside, if it were a daily driver I would probably opt for the C6. With the C6 you have a better chance of still having a factory warranty. Also with the information you supplied on what you want out of the car, the C6 will provide you the power in stock condition without going into many mods. "Most likely stock" as you put it.

Personally I drove both and am more of a fan of the C5. Just a more comfortable car for me. But there was a definite difference in power and feel of the C6 in stock form.

I'd have to think REAL hard about it since you mentioned the 2003 50th. An AE vert with m6 is still one of my personal all time favorites. Slightly modded...even better. I don't think I'll ever be able to give up on having one eventually.

Either way C5 or C6...I don't exactly see you losing here. Good luck with your decision

Lots of threads on this subject, you can't really go wrong with either. Lots of reasonably price C6's now, last couple months has seen a greater number showing up in mid 30's which was unheard of not long ago. If you get a C5 try getting a 02-04 with low mileage, you might find one with GMPP which is like having a new car warranty.

There you go then, I loved the CE and color so it was an easy decision at the end of the day.

I've seen a couple of CE and AE verts on the west coast with very low miles going for high 30's and even some around 40k which is a lot more than your average C6 coupe right now! I wonder what that says about the market? I said this before in another thread but i could have purchased a 04 CE coupe but i was trying to get away from blue ( had 2 blue TA's and a blue silverado) so i went with MSG. Looking back i really do like the CE cars though and sometimes wonder.

I can chime in on this one. I've owned and operated C5 and C6 coupes, C5 convertibles, and several C5 Z06's. I always go back to the Z06 for just pure driving fun. The Z is very solid and tight due to the fixed roof and the LS6 power is very hard to beat without serious mods. I just sold a C6 coupe to go back into the Z I currently own and love. If you plan on doing some driver event and club runs, you'll love a Z. Best of luck

You almost always have the fastest car if it's a Z06

I own both a 2001 coupe and a 2005 coupe. I really notice the extra 50 ponies. If performance is not that important and you are looking for a DD then I would go with a C5. Just my .02

You'll get a different answer from each of us I suppose. I like my CE vert with MN6, but had a red 00 vert before this. I tend to like the C5 lines a little more as it appears (to me) to look a little longer and lower. I think the C6 is about 6" inches shorter, and (again to me) makes it look taller and shorter. I prefer the hideaway headlights on the C5 but would enjoy the 400 hp of the C6 or C5 Z06. But the Z doesn't come in a vert, so that one is not on my list. I like the top down over the extra HP. Again, just my personal preference. I have not het driven a C6 so defer to others on the ride comparison. You'll be happy either way.

I think I am leaning towards a 50th an. red 6 speed manual, scale int. vert. may take a coupe if really nice. I really love that car combo. HP is not really an issue compared to the C6, one can improve that with a few mods that will not hurt the value. Of course I would keep the original parts.
I am also leaning for the Z. I do love that car..... All these hard choices, but hey thats the fun of buying a car. If I go with a c5z I will keep to the red fam.
