Has anybody had any Millennium Yellow parts painted that came out wrong. I just bolted on a MCM hood tonight that I had painted and it looks like the yellow on the C6. I've had a few parts painted before with no problems. The paint shade was right on the money. Could there be such a thing as leaving the tint coat out of the paint or something? It's just way too light in color and I'm way sick as hell about it.
I'll guess I'll call the shop that painted it Monday to see what can be done about it. They were highly recommended and suppose to be one of the best, but something went wrong somewhere. It looks like a lemon yellow instead of the darker Millennium Yellow.
Have them check the paint formulas for variations. I just painted my targa top and there were 3 color variations from the factory which required different quantities of the mid coat and tints.I have mag red but todays paint is an applied science. If you can't leave the car have them do a spray out card to better match what is on the car.You might have to blend out into the fenders to hide any discrepencies. Good Luck.
P.S. On the spray out card have the base coat applied and allow to dry to touch apply (2) 1 in strips of masking tape spray the tint then peel each layer of tape one at a time and apply one more coat each time this will give you a 123 tint coat then apply the clear and compare to the car.

No I just took the hood and the headlight covers to go by. When I took the factory hood off and stood it beside the MCM hood my wife said something was wrong. Then I got to looking at it I could tell it was a shade off. Kinda looks like the tint coat was not applyed. It looks like it has mone lemon in the paint like the VY on the C6. I think the paint shop that mixed it left somethig out.
I own a zink yellow stang-gt as my DD, and I wrecked it once , and when I had it painted, the paint came out like previous year paint, chrome yellow, and they had to redo the pannel three times before they got it close to the color. It has to do with the tint coats, and you might also want to check as to wich paint brand they are using. The second body shop I took it to used DuPont paint. I've ordered a cobra R front facia, and I've figured out that DuPont paint matches the best on my car's paint color: zink yellow.
do some shoping arround on paint brands, and it might also help. It helped me.

I'm going to have to do something. The way the hood looks on the car it looks like they forgot to put the tint coat on it at all. Like I said I've had other parts painted before (front air dam, rear spoiler and side skirts) with no problem but this color is way off. I'll just wait and see what the paint shop has to say. The paint job looks great just the wrong color.
