Default My first Z06

Well everybody, I just bought my first Z06 yesterday. I got it from a forum member, and so far everything is awesome: This car has power! I am coming from an f-body and the difference in ride, power, and class is just unbelievable, I couldn't possibly be happier!

This car rocks , any words of advice for the newb vette owner?

Congratulations! ...and I'll second the above post.
No matter how good a driver you think you are, a car (especially a Z06) will prove you wrong if you're acting foolish.
Spend the time/money and get some professional drivers training. We've had enough of the "I crashed my car last night" posts...

You guys are not kidding.... I never had the TC on in my WS6... The car was "quick" but it wasn't THAT bad... The TC in this Z06 is great... It lets you have some fun, without letting you go to crazy. Its the perfect combination. It now makes sense why people shouldn't get a Z06 (specificly) as their first car, its to much!

Funnest car i've ever been in, also have spoken to several local corvette guys... Quite a group if I do say so, im having the time of my life

Do you have a link to that thread? I've read a few already, always seems that the folks my age are the ones involved... sucks

Traction control on an F body is a joke, it just has some wheel sensors that kill the gas if the wheel slips. At least thats how it was in my daughters late model Z28.

On a Vette its all computer controlled with active handling, quite a difference. You can go around turns with more confidence and the rear won't break loose, To a Point.

Just be a careful

Congrats. One piece of advice. Keep the clutch fluid in the slave cylinder clean. It will extend the life of the clutch. And just stay with the synthetic oil. And you could check the throttle body on occasion and keep it clean. Other than that, just use premium gas and give her hell!

Congrats! Good to see another f-body -> z06 convert! It's a very logical step up - I went to an MR2 spyder planning on upgrading it to an acura NSX, but after 3 months in the 4banger, I realized how absolutely wrong I was. I myself was a diehard f-body fan (had the z28 in the sig, on top of a 1997 trans am and a 1997 camaro z28), and finally stepped up to a Z06. What was I thinking with the MR2/NSX!

And yeah, keep the TC on. I drove it in competitive mode today and broke the wheels loose for the first time - by flooring it in 1st at 20mph! Wow, I was surprised - last time I was able to do that was in my hotcammed z28, but it made a lot more noise, wheelhopped, creaked, and rattled while doing it! The Z06 is *so* smooth, stiff, and accelerated a lot better!

Love the ride You won't regret it one bit. I jsut got my Z06 2 weeks ago, and when forum members told me that I wouldn't regret it, I was still so dazed and in shock that I didn't quite believe them. Well... it's day 14 and each time I get in the car, I enjoy it more. Can't wait to drive it again!

Save the wave!

You can get away with turning the TC off, but leave the AH on.

Welcome to the club and enjoy that new ride

Congrats, and enjoy, I have had mine just over a year, and it is in the shop getting a Maggie installed and a few other goodies now, every time I go for a ride since the first time, and everytime since then it still brings a to my face.

Just a little warning, if you decide to start doing mods, it's addicting, but you probably already know that I guess...
