I brought my Z06 home two weeks ago and have not driven it since. One of the reasons is that we are in such a bad drought here in the Atlanta area. You are not allowed to wash your car or utilize any outside water. People have been driving around trying to catch you so they can report you and get half the fine-$500. Consequently, it is staying under the cover in the closed garage. If this keeps up I may think about moving to Wyoming. The summers are shorter, but I could wash it when I got home.
That sucks, I could never put up with that. Wy is OK, too damn windy all the time. Should look at CO!
I like your thinking, but I would be afraid to try it. The water shortage is really bad here. I have a boat in storage because the lake is completely dry. People have been riding their 4-wheelers across it for months now. Can you believe the only option is taking it through a car wash? I cringe at the thought!
Let the car idle for a minute or two when very cold... let the oil pressure come up fully and bring the oil temp up on the DIC, then go drive.
No WOT and nothing over 3000 rpms until the oil temp is 150 or more... I do this all year round. It's the best prescription for long valve spring life.
Even in stock form the cam is pretty stout and the valve springs are stiff so they need to be warm before stressed.
