Its that time again... to take the Corvette back to the Corvette dealership from hell (Al Yousef Motors Dubai) for her Service. Weather strips are to be replaced and they "have all the parts". they also need to look at my intermitent working windows (sand jamming them up).

Worst part is i spent 6 hrs polishing her this weekend for National Day... now they are going to put their mucky paws all over her.

Last time she went in for a check up she didnt come back for a month and to top it all they managed to scratch my wifes brand you Explorer truck thingy by closing the entry barrier on top of it

nnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

A list of the problems i have had with them.
1) Sold the car with "Right rear Warning" Showing
2) Told me just to patch it up and be refunded.
3) Gararge said they couldnt "Patch it up" as it was run flat and advise that all four tires show exessive side wall cracking
4) Fight with ever level of management about this, had to get GM and Good year involved before they finally gave in to my pressure.
5) Car breaks down, they refuse to come collect dispite me having a piece of paper in my hand saying they will...
6) Come to collect the next day but send the wrong type of pick up truck (note: this is a corvette garage.. what else do they pick up)
7) Scratch my car when its in, dry sand in an attempt to cover it up, huge dull patch that i spot a mile away. Give in fighting with them by this point just want my car back as they have had it more than me...
8) Replace my cream door inserts with black ones for no apparent reason and think i wont notice. Say they broke one and cant get the parts...

This the the 30k KLM service min charge is 200 Dollars. They want to replace the break pads 800 dollars but i dont think it needs it. Only god knows what they will attempt to charge me for the windows.

So without her for a few days while they hurt her...

And we thought WE had poor dealerships here in the US!

Man, that is so sad! No one should have to go through that!

I wouldn't take it back to them for nothing! Get some service manuals and go to town. There really isn't anything that hard about car maintanence if you can read, take your time, comprehend, and have internet access. If you get stuck, you know someone will be here to help.

Sucks

This guy drops a huge roll of carpet off of his tiny little Ford truck. I was in the fast lane (go figure)...he didn't have anything tied down. I hit it and it wipes out the front of my car. Thank God these cars are as low to the ground as they are. It went over the top of me instead of me rolling over????

The guy stops, gets out, runs out into 3 lanes of traffic, rolls the carpet back up and throws it on his truck and proceeds to take off. I am on the side of the road in tears assessing all of my damage and he just drives off. I was one of three vehicles involved in this incident.

Everyone just looks at me and says:" You can catch him, right?"

Oh yeah, the point about the black Z06: Everytime I had to bring the car back I just simply said "what if it was your car?"

So I did. I rolled up along side him on his left and hollered at him " look at what you just did to my car" and I told him to 'pull over' (omitting expletives)

He did.

He had great insurance. The only problem was finding a repair facility that was contracted to his insurance that knew what the hell they were doing. I finally found one where the owner had a black Z06 with NOS. No, I wasnt looking for one that had an owner who had a black Z06 with NOS, I just lucked out.

Anyhoo

The car had to go back 4 times before they got it right. They had to install a brand new air dam/undercarriage/spoiler- (not sure what you call it, but its the thing that ALWAYS scrapes the driveway) brand new front bumper with Corvette emblem, brand new turn signals, two new front tires and 4 machined wheels, right door rocker panel, door latch, front fender, alignment (separate shop), complete black paint job- except foor trunk lid (I paid for that)... let's see.. I'm sure there was more. I ended up in three different rentals and the only one worth a damn was the GTO with an LS1.

Black paint. Who woulda thought?

That piece of carpet almost got me a new car.

Oh yeah, and the point about the black Z06: Everytime the car went back into the shop I just simply said to the owner "what if it was your car?"

Graham, here's what you need to do. Fly me over there and I'll bring the manuals. We'll fix everything ourselves and if we run into a problem, DeeGee will give us the solution. I work for food and women so it won't cost you any money!

I assume this is the only place that you have available to work on your car. That sucks. Maybe it's not a bad idea to get a set of the service manuals and work on the car yourself - at least as much as you can.

Good luck this time.

No offense intended, but I do not understand how this is related to the original subject.

Spend the money for a service manual and you'd be surprised at how easy the routine maintenance is.

The original poster lives in the United Arab Emerites - it's not like he can go to the next corner or even the next town to choose another Chevrolet dealer. I'm the first one to take someone to task when they do something stupid - but I think you've got this one all wrong.

I do agree however, that fixing the car yourself is a better option. I'm not much of a believer in routine "scheduled" checkups. When you bring your car back to the dealer for these "scheduled visits, none of the checks are covered under warranty - unless they uncover a failure that is covered. But the fluid changes and the filter changes, and I've even heard of dealers charging for tire rotation on a Corvette (done only because they do it on all cars at xx,xxx intervals). I do agree that certain things need to be changed and looked at - but the dealer doesn't have to be the one to perform it. They bully folks into thinking that if they don't bring their car back to the dealer for these "checkups" the warranty is in jeopardy. And dealers wonder why they have such sterling reputations......

all you had was a flat tire when you bought it? I'm sorry to say I've had much worse luck with the dealer I bought my car from. its a great ride now that I've put about $1000 in to repairs and much of my own time. they lied about the status of the car and refused to feel any guilt when I came back the next day with a page long list of problems it obviously had before I bought it, some of them safety concerns!
